I ran to the bus stop and was dismayed to see the bus get there before I did.
As luck would have it the light at the intersection turned red and bought me some time!
I was thrilled and ran across the street, ecstatic that I would make it to my appointment on time.
Unfortunately, the driver did not open the door. I politely knocked on the door thinking perhaps he just did not see me. He did see me and simply stared straight ahead and shook his head no. I replied aloud “Really? You are not going to open the door?” His response was a nod.
Man what a way to start the day! I don’t understand the cruel exercise of power that this man displayed. He was at a red light. A car was in front of him and he was literally only a foot away from the bus stop… but couldn’t open the door for a passenger. You sir are an ass! You make a bad name for all of the other polite and kind drivers out there. —I Guess I’ll Walk

Who the fuck runs after their own car? No one. OB, lesson learned. Take the hint.
there is a great love for bus drivers, on the other side
Sebastian, I got that they were running after a bus! Not a car!
Sebastion seems to like his own little “get a car” broken record. Too bad no one gives a shit.
OP- bus drivers can’t open the door once the move from the stop. I’m under the assumption that if they get caught doing so, they get their asses handed to them.
They must have 50 people trying this every day. If they started letting people on at every red light or made up stop metro transit would be even more pathetically slow. Oh, and guaranteed if OP was allowed on at the red light it would become a regular habit for them. Do people favours and they exploit you. No need to get to a bus stop early when I can just chase down a bus!

The driver is in the middle of traffic, moron, red light or not. It is illegal.
Motor Vehicle Act:
Boarding, alighting from or riding in vehicle
129 (1) It shall be an offence for the driver of a vehicle to stop the vehicle on the street or highway for the purpose of letting off or taking on any person or persons, other than at the curb or side of the road or highway, or knowingly to permit any person or persons to alight from or to enter upon the vehicle while the same is in motion.
Next time be on time for the bus, which in Metro-Transiteze, means 5 mins before and after the actual time of departure in the schedule. I guess hitting the snooze button that last time put a kink in your day afterall.
OB, I personally think its your responisibility to board when everyone else boards.
With that said, if you really wanted to assert your will on the driver, you could have stood in front of his bus yelling ‘open the fucking door, asshole!’ LOL
Yep, a pain and frustrating especially in this burg where a missed bus can mean a long wait, depending on the route. However, once they leave the stop you are out of luck.
As for those who keep saying – “Get a car”, to most bus, pedestrian and bike bitches imagine their reaction when we are all in the gridlock that would be created if everyone did get one. But may be fun to check out all the baby buggies on car roofs!
Yeah, if it were up to him he might have let you on. He’s not allowed.
Running for the bus = crapshoot. Once it’s at an intersection, it becomes an issue of safety and getting potentially ticketed by vehicle enforcement. Bottom line, be there earlier.
Sorry OP, I know how much it sucks to be late and miss a bus by an inch, but they aren’t allowed to take on passengers anywhere but at the bus stops:(
“Who the fuck runs after their own car? No one. OB, lesson learned. Take the hint.”
Kill yourself. That that one.
On many routes, the bus stops so often, a bicycle gets you to work faster than the bus. And, the last few days, the weather was outstanding.
You know, I sympathize and understand where you’re coming from totally. However, most people on here are right; the law states that once a driver has pulled away from the Bus Stop, he CANNOT open the door for anyone. It’s a safety hazard and he can get fired. You’ll just have to do like me and be more vigilant about getting to the Bus Stop in time.
Bro Tim is right. sorry. He’s not going to risk his job because you hit snooze one too many times.
Look dude, i’ve been there. But by LAW he can’t let you on after he’s pulled away form the stop. Those that do are risking their jobs.
Yes it’s true, bus drivers are not allowed to open their door when they are waiting at the lights. If they get caught doing so, the driver can get a fine. It’s not worth it for them to risk it.
Sorry OP you are in the wrong on this one…
You know what, when I used to take the bus to work every day I would make sure I was at the stop 5 minutes early. I would also make sure that if I did somehow miss my intended bus the next one would still get me there in time. Guess what? I always got to work on time… magical.
I didn’t bother reading the whole thread, but Sebtard piped up, so I had to say something, he’s an idiot, we all get that, for this bus bitch, it’s valid, it’s like the yield, deal with a bus, if along side, cannot yield, if behind, will yield, but the bus drivers expecst that a driver will yield when along side said bus when it’s impossible to do so. Dear bus drivers give us drivers some slack.
I was on a bus last week where the driver DID let people on after leaving the stop. Tourists, I guessing as none of them knew the proper amount of change or spoke much english. The ended up having to leave the bus, go get change and wait for the next bus. The driver said aloud that he knew he shouldn’t have opened the door to let them on.
The bus driver can get fired for letting you on at a red light. Get your head out of your ass, OB. Why should he risk his job just because you can’t get yourself to the bus stop on time?
o.p., stop it already, you sound like a complete idiot. of course he wouldn’t open the door.you were not within 10 feet of the stop, so he had no reason to let you on. it has happened to me before.suck it the fuck up, and be there a bit earlier nxt time. what gives you any right to think, that they travel for your own personal enjoyment.
Obviously OB wasn’t aware of this.
That being said, the problem *is* some drivers will do this, so those unaware that it’s not allowed think that the drivers can and will do it and those who don’t are just assholes.
It’s like this everywhere — someone breaks a rule for a customer/patron, and then everyone expects the rule to be broken and those of us who aren’t into risking our jobs to satisfy some random’s entitlement are seen as huge assholes.
Shitty people pleasing managers’ll do that — undermine their employees to make the customer happy, meanwhile making their employee look like a douchehat chump. I can’t fucking STAND that.
at first glance, I thought this was going to be from the dude I saw yesterday ranting and raving at the bus… and then the busdrivers who were waiting for their next bus at the terminal.
It sucks missing buses, that’s definitely true…
but the onus has always been on the rider to be there on time.
If… and ONLY if the driver pulled away before the bus was scheduled to be at that stop…
then I’d be completely on your side… because I’ve seen that all too many times.
scheduled stop 3:20pm
bus pulls up 3:15 (I know this because I was across the street, approaching the stop at my 5-mins-early-is-on-time policy) stops for 10-15 seconds… ie not long enough for me to get across the street and around the bus to get on… and pulls away.
that…. that just burns my gears….
I’m sorry, but this really did make me LOL
“Who the fuck runs after their own car? No one.”
not because I think the OB is dumb — but because it actually is LOL.
Shit happens and sometimes we’re running out the door to get our buses. I get that, so I’m giving OB the benefit of the doubt. But I also agree with, and live by madeinthe80s statement: get there 5 minutes early and have a contingency plan. I even have a contingency contingency plan and a contingency contingency contingency plan. Though, this past week I’ve been using the contingency contingency plan and the contingency contingency contingency plan. It’s been a weird week.
THANK you PK. I get that at work all the time. I get that my manager wants to keep the idiot customer happy (and it’s always the loudmouth entitled jerks who get what they want, not the polite, easygoing people) but at LEAST tell the idiot customer that I was RIGHT and they’re (the customer) just lucked out that the pushover manager was there. Instead I get a look and attitude of “see, bitch, I was right” from the customer just for me doing my job. GRR.
lesson: Get to the bus stop earlier!
This is when you start running full hilt for the next bus stop! (If you know where it is and it isn’t incredibly far away).
The J’Yo….
that poor, poor Feline-Canadian…
(I’m assuming…)
hell, I’ll also assume this is your house…

I’m doing everything in my power right now not to throw up….
*burp*…. *gag*….
Co sign PK’s statement. That’s one thing I love about my job. Management backs me up. Their answer is the same as mine: no.
“Co sign” Lolz
I’m feeling rather meh about OP.
