Have you heard the news? One in three convenient stores sell tobacco products to minors.

What sort of distortion is this? If this is anywhere close to true why haven’t 100s of stores been charged with this offense. The fine for the first offense can be up to $2000, the second $5000 and the third $10 000 – that would put a nice chunk of change in the coffers. —Do You Think We’re That Stupid?

  1. The provincial government used to have underage “mystery shoppers” for this purpose…I wonder if that’s still the case?

  2. I heard on the radio that’s where they got the stats from – their minor Sherlock Holmes’. To me if they’re using these kids (and one would hope there would be an adult enforcement agent with them), that the agent would go in and charge the store, otherwise it’s once again a huge waste of taxpayers dollars.

  3. get the fuck outta here, they do? gee, i thought that shit was against the law, same as wangstas gpoing out and using their little ghetto sideway shooting/missing guns. gee, you learn something new, every fucking day, go figure.

  4. More propaganda from the Canadian Cancer society and their associated lobby groups… must have been a slow anti-smoker week in the news

  5. Did these guys hit up every convenience store in the city, or did they just hit up 3 in a shady neighborhood? I’m thinking numbers pulled out of their ass, and I know 68% of people will agree with me. The other 32% don’t have asses.

  6. Actually, I bet that statistic is true. I might even say more stores then 1 in 3. I turned legal age to purchase cigarettes a year ago, but I’ve been purchasing them myself for many years before that. I always have looked older, but it wasn’t just me.. all my friends were able to too.. at just about any store. Now, I’m only 20 and I never get ID’d on smokes.
