Don’t you hate it, when you buy a new phone, and it’s broken three months later? I swear these stupid cell phone companies make shitty phones on purpose, so that if you drop it ONCE, it automatically never works again, and then you have to get a new one. I’m so sick of paying extreme amounts of money for these stupid phones. All I fucking want is to stay in contact with my partner and my family while on the go. Is that too much to ask? God, I hate technology, I just wish I could live without it, but it’s like a lifeline. It sneaks up on you and gets you both ways. FUCK. —FU

I guess the lesson learned here is:
don’t drop your phone and take better care of your stuff?
If you’ve only had it for 3 months, it’s probably still under warranty…
i drop my phone all the time and the cheapie phones at the shop. the back falls off but they continue functioning
You can get insurance
Seems like the newer phones are more delicate then the older ones, I guess more to go wrong.
Actually, I’ve dropped my iPhone a couple times and it still functions normally.
*beforeyougetyourdigsinfuckoffzedlet’sbebusbuddiestodayok?*
*can’ttodaybecauseihavetomakeastoponthewayhometofixmoreannoyingtech*
iphones blend, btw.
If all you want is to have something to communicate with and you hate technology….
why the hell wouldn’t you just buy a cheap, shitty pay as you go phone?
instead of spending a fortune on a berry/samsung/htc/ishit..
That’s actually a point I was going to make — you can get pay as you go phones for 40 bucks. No contract, and you can get cheaper monthly rates with no commitment.
And sad apple on the no bus buddies thing 🙁
i use my phone to call and text, it isn’t a web phone but has many other features…that i don’t care about/can’t figure out^^
don’t you, just hate, it when, people, can’t, write properly, and it makes their bitches, hard, to read.
warranties are a new phones best friend.
i’ve had my blackberry for almost 4 years now.
the older ones are built like bricks, but there’s no more of a reliable phone than a Nokia. those things are indestructible.
I had the same issue back in the day, the crank handle always came off and once the whole wooden case thing fell off the wall, the cocksuckers on the party line laughed and Alexander Graham Bell told me to GGB.
I’m wondering what the fuck you’re doing to your phones. I’ve had 2 in 13 years and the only thing that’s happened is they got old enough to make replacing the battery annoying.
party lines, baz. which usually means, get off the line so i can use it
What I don’t understand is why people are constantly buying brand new phones that have a lot of features they will never use and that are overly delicate. Just get a clunker with the basics and run it until it dies… unless you have a lot of money to throw away and like to feel fancy with your overpriced tech, I do not see any reason to be constantly upgrading. Sure, the CSR at the cell phone company might make it sound like you are getting a “special deal” but bottom line is that if you can’t afford it then don’t buy it/ sign a contract for it! I think cell phones are one area where rampant consumerism has gotten way too out of hand (is that a redundant phrase? maybe).
Also – on insurance – I had insurance on my BB for a year or so (it was just on my plan, I had the contract signed over to me) then when I looked into it I realized that the insurance would only replace the same model AND there was a $150 deductable. Nice. I could get a perfectly functioning used version of my phone for $80 off kijiji. What a rip off.
Whenever I’ve dropped a phone, I just take it into Telus and tell them it doesn’t work. If it’s within a year of when I first bought it, they fix it for free. I don’t know why whatever company you’re with doesn’t do the same.
It would had saved a lot of hassle if E.T. had a cell phone. But could you imagine the roaming charges?
You playing hacky sack with it or what? Invest in a decent cellphone case, preferably one that can bounce like a bum after a tossed cigarette.
My phone has been dropped several times and put through the laundry cycle and it still works. I’ve had it for about six or seven years.
kijiji…when I’m in a bind, (i’ve lost & broken many). Just look for a phone that’s compatible with your service provider, and you can buy a second hand one, and just insert your sim card. My BF just got one through our service provider, warranted for 3 mos, for $50 bucks.
They didn’t offer me that option when I lost my phone. He just thought to ask. my new phone cost me a three year renewal.FREAKING JOY.
i used to have an old motorola startac 3000, that fucking thing was just about indistructible. i dropped it, lost it for two weeks, dropped in lake while fishing, ran over it with wheeler, and even today, i can still turn it on, and it lights up and still works, after a charge of course. to bad they went fucking stupid digital. the old analog signal was a lot stronger, and i had no dead zones, no matter if i was 50 miles back in the bush. fuck i loved using it, sigh.
just… new phones aren’t made with any durability. they don’t survive a fall or water. i had a touch screen and my nails damaged it while i was typing. good thing i kept my old brick of a blackberry for back up. drop in a puddle put it in a bag of rice and it’s like brand new.
maybe that’s why RIM is in the shitter…
had they made cheap pieces of disposable crap like apple and htc..
they’d have more sales for all the replacements.
damn quality canadian companies bankrupting themselves..
As a former cellphone rep, I would suggest contacting the manufacturer (samsung, motorola etc) directly. Most of them have a policy that says that if the phone is dropped from less than waist height, it should be fine – and if it breaks, they will replace it.
People and cell phones. *shakes head*
thewons:
Perhaps i”m in the minority, but I use pretty much ALL the features on my iPhone and in fact, I hardly ever use my computer these days. I think I’ve actually opened the top of my macbook three times in the past month.
I find my phone INCREDIBLY convenient and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever go back. It’s worth every penny and worth the $77/month.
Oh and Alex: the shop of the future wanted to charge me $12.95+HST/month for a ‘warranty’ on my iPhone. LMAOOOOO. Uh no.
And perhaps if people trashing other cell phone companies actually sat down and used said phones for more than 30 seconds, they’d have a better understanding of what they are really like to use. I didn’t want an iPhone and was going to get the BB Bold, but after using both, I much preferred the iPhone. I haven’t had any regret. And yes, it’s been dropped on both ceramic tile and laminate flooring… damn cats like to get up on things and beat things off of counter tops and console tables. Bastards.
In any event, the phone was/is FINE.
