For starters, can I ask why bouncers feel so powerful?– you’re just on a damn power trip, you check ID’s, you don’t save lives. Can I remind you also that you cannot build a life time CAREER working the door?
Then, to top things off, I am walking down Spring Garden and 2 young male police officers walk by me, one with a grin on his face and makes some stupid comment about my purchase trying to hit on me. Shut up, get off your damn high horse and do your job. By the way, you can still be considered a prick if you save lives or not.

Bouncers feel powerful because it’s amusing to reject pathetic attempts by insecure fucks. Heck, if I had that ability, I’d be full of fits and giggles too.

do you want a bouncer who is insecure, and feels helpless and unsure of his/her role? i don’t think so. but i think there is a way to be polite and look in control and calm. some of the more seasoned ones can do it. but, by the time you’re seasoned, you LEAVE that job!
Yes, most of the bouncers are on a power-trip they don’t deserve! You work the door at a bar in Halifax, Nova Scotia people! I understand how sometimes the people working the night life industry feel superior to patrons. They think they are running the show and controlling the city. I have worked in this industry before, and I recognize how people can get caught up in the atmosphere. Maybe one day they will recognize how stupid they really act.
I have seen a lot of unnecessary force used by the bouncers on their CUSTOMERS. I appreciate that they are necessary, but from what I have seen it’s usually some dumb dicks that just get off on pushing people around for possibly looking at you the wrong way. Hey, here’s an idea… treat people with respect and you’ll get it in return! Don’t expect people to bow down at you just because you are checking ID’s! Don’t pick out random guys from the crowd and challenge them to make yourselves feel better!
Get over yourselves..because most people who have brains are actually laughing at you.
Bouncers are insecure because that is the only way they feel validated in life, they make no money, they are poor, most are ugly so the little power they have, they will abuse it in order for them to feel they have a purpose in their insignificant life.
Jesus, they’re just doing their jobs! Don’t you see? They get paid to be on a power trip. Assholes exist in every job type, get over it. Three of my friends are bouncers, one is an ass, the other two are really cool.
