  1. A “giant fucking ass hole” is someone who tries to skeeze their way on to a crowded bus with $1.22 when everybody else was grown-up enough to have the proper $2.00 fare. Cry me a river you fuckn’ amateur, try & pull that at an airport, the grocery store or the N.S.L.C.; they’ll kick your sorry ass over the threshold too!

  2. mm, that sucks that you were thrown out in the cold. I can only imagine where you might’ve been: bedford? bayers lake? I know I’ve been there before, not able to get on the last bus far from home. What I try to do now is to have 2$ on me, especially when I plan on taking a bus. It would be nice if the individual busses of metro transit could make change, and it would be nice if pop machines could too. I suppose that they don’t want drivers to be giving out amounts of money either because a)drivers might imbezzle or b)they might get robbed all the time. But whether it’s for their safety or their pocketbook security, if I don’t have 1.75$ for a diet coke, well I guess I’m not going to get service from that pop machine. I could however go to any nearby merchant, convenience store, whatever, and break a 5 by buying some small candy, and then I’d have a candy bar, my diet coke, and the chance to enjoy them on a warm busride home. Otherwise, I should expect to be walking empty handed. Why? Because I know I’ll need 2$ to get on a metro transit bus, because I’m not some damned whiner who expects something for nothing from everyone.

  3. Get over yourself. If this is the first time you’ve stepped out into the real world, then go back under the eggshell, think, and then use your cell phone, notebook with Internet or any other “advanced” technology in everyday use today, and this time around have change available, in the correct amount!

  4. gee, was this the first time you got caught putting in inadequate bus fare…boo hoo….be a man(or woman)as pay for your own way honestly….i have to!

  5. Metro transit terminals could break your five and give you tickets. You should have thought ahead and break your change. Even if you had to go and buy a stick of gum you would have had the $2 to catch the bus. Nice that you thought you could have shorted the driver and get the ride, serves you right sucka!

  6. Trying to get on the bus with $1.22??? What? Are you brain-dead??? Why the hell should you get away with paying less??? It’s a PRIVILEGE to take the bus, not an automatic RIGHT. If you don’t have the quid, then that’s too bad. It’s people like you, expecting something for less, when the rest of us ante up the correct amount, or have the foresight to buy a bus pass. A woman from Montreal asked the #7 Gottingen driver if she could get on FOR FREE!!??!! Metro Transit is not a charity, and if drivers were required to make change for everybody, THE BUSES WOULD NEVER BE ON TIME!!!! Get with the program, or use the transportation God gave ya!!! I’m glad you were humiliated, looks good on ya!! Try paying what everyone else pays, and maybe you’ll have a better experience with Metro Transit. Kudos to the driver!!

  7. Ok so she has $1.22, My God call the police, there has been many a time before the bus went up to $2 that I put a toonie on b/c I didn’t have the $1.65 in exact change, I’m sure the driver wouldn’t turn me away. Yes everyone should plan a head, but IN THE REAL WORLD things just are not that perfect,She also offered to pay with a $5…. some of these damn bus drivers take there jobs so seriously. How about beinging on time mister bus driver or perhaps you could wait until people are seated before you shove off. Be it there are some great regular drivers but there are a few that should not be dealing with the public…and to all who would respond to this posting..I buy bus passes every month, and if it were not for lack of parking in downtown Halifax, Metro Transit would not make one red cent from me….P.s Who are they trying to fool $2 for a bus ride HA!

  8. Please do not forget that at Saint Mary’s University there are PLENTY of people that have paid for the obligatory U-Pass when they already live in residence or drive a car and therefore donot need it. We are talking something like $120/year. Sometimes I have forgotten my U-Pass and when I ask the driver nicely they let me on. Sometimes reality is being short changed or finding yourself stranded and the bus is the only way home and all you have is $1.22. Obviously the person who short-changed the driver does not take the bus on a regular basis. Why not let what people paid for and not use help out those handful of people on a cold night? Besides, I support metro transit but lately the $2 cover charge also gets you attitude from the driver, smelly and rude passengers, and it’s not always on time.
