There I was May 17, 6:55 a.m trying to walk to work from Dartmouth to Halifax on the bridge. Only to be stopped rudely by three “security” people who said the bridge was “closed”. Closed to pedestrians before 7am??? WTF. Who do they think they are? What about poor people who have no other way to cross Halifax Harbor? What about me who was just trying to get to work at the hospital? No one ought to think they can monopolize use of the bridge. What petty bourgeois nonsense. What arrogance. Guess only fitness matters for the marathoners. The rest of us were just trying to go about our daily lives. Fucking unbelievable. —Switchboard Operator

  1. Are you Fucked? They do this every year and they advertised the street and bridges closures for WEEKS ahead of time.

  2. “Petty Bourgeois Nonsense”?
Let me guess, after you purge the plutocrats, the autarchs, the oligarchs, the wreckers, the class traitors, the fatcats, the police, the Freemasons, you’ll eventually get around to the marathoners. Hasta la victoria siempre, Che .

  3. I don’t get it. The runners use the bridge deck, no? Why would they have to close the pedways for that?

  4. Terrorist threats. Seriously my elderly mother told me ISIL was going to attack Dartmouth and make all the women wear burkhas.

  5. The bridge was not closed because of the marathoners. It was closed to prevent the Dartmouth proletariat, typically at an ungodly hour, from trying to sneak into Halifax. And rightly so.

  6. What? You missed the weeks of advertizement that the bridge would be closed? And IIRC Transit had shuttle buses going across as they will when it is shut down for maintenance.
