You were making a left turn at a red light, while I was crossing with my Green light, while the walking symbol was definitely up. You were frigging trecking along, and would have hit me if I didn’t stop right then, though you did heavily graze my coat.
I know I, as a pedestrian, have to be carefully, especially in this weather, but seriously? It was snowy and really windy, I had my hood up. Nothing was coming when I started walking, I had the right of way, and you didn’t. And you just drove off! Fuck, man. —Grrr

The sad thing is, they may even have run you over and not noticed! Throw a little snow and traffic into the mix, and your average driver turns into an anxious zombie with tunnel-vision.

While I’m not surprised at anything that happens at any Lacewood intersection, had the light just turned green for you, OP? Perhaps the dude in the intersection needed to get out of the intersection because it had just turned red?
It’s super important to let people in the intersections go when the light turns red for them if they’re sitting in said intersection waiting to make a left hand turn before venturing out on a green.
Not saying this is the case in this situation, but peds need to be proactive too — a car can’t stop on a dime and yes, some motorists are idiots and I’d much rather be a bit cautious and let some dipshit go through the intersection and flip them off than end up as said dipshit’s hood ornament.
Also: at least in NS the ped has the right of way in the cross walk…in other provinces *cough* quebec *cough* *cough* they don’t and you could be crossing and someone could just speed right through right in front of you and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it. I almost got creamed by a bus once at a 4 way stop!

My girlfriend worked yesterday from 2 to 9:30pm. I didn’t have to so I insisted she take the truck. Instead of her little 4 cyclinder shit box.
She’s glad she did. She had no problem with unplowed roads out here, icy patches on the 102…. no the only problem she ran into was assholes with 3 season tires out trying to drive in that shit. Cars stuck in parking lots ! cars partially off the road because it was too slippery & snow to deep for tires with no traction. Cars crawling at 50 kms an hour on the highway being in the way.
I am 999% behind making it illegal to drive your under equiped vehicle during snow storms. You don’t have winter tires studded & ready to go, you shouldn’t be allowed on the roads.
IF you get into an accident, go off the road etc. they check your tires…not winter tires , insurance is null & void. pay your own damage.
I have many time watched people purposly not stop their car, because if they stop moving, they just slip & slide trying to get moving again. It sounds like the ass who almost hit you was just trying to keep moving & pedestrians be damned !
To those of you who want to whine & bitch about how expensive an extra set of rims & winter tires are…I say no problem, don’t get them. Just stay off the roads -period- no excuses about well I was at work & hadda…no dice ! its now storming & you can walk, taxi or take the damn bus !

Turning left on a red light? Hmm….unless the driver had already been in the intersection before the light changed, that’s illegal. But what I suspect truly happened is: light was green, driver proceeded, light changed, and you barged out onto the sidewalk as if you rule the road right in front of him. Open your eyes next time. If a vehicle is still in the intersection when the light changes, they are permitted to complete through.
