Why the fuck does Black Friday exist in Canada? It is a American greed-driven shitshow and makes huge dollars for American big box stores… it’s got nothing to do with us. We shouldn’t be associated with it. Breaking the fucking doors down and trampling Walmart employees in order to get a deal on a fucking TV? Holy shit. Haligonians, Nova Scotians, Canadians… resist it! Resist it with all your might. Black Friday in Canada needs to die. Please consider spending your hard-earned dollars on local, more thoughtful gifts this Christmas. You might just end up spending less in the end… —Local Merchant Lover

I’ll tell you what i told the last dingus
“Oh please. Black Friday in canada is often a fairly civilized affair when compared to the black friday chaos that is the status quo in the USA.
You people, you bitch when stores charge too much. You bitch when they charge too little. When the problem is clearly obvious in every case. THE FUCKING IDIOT CONSUMERS.
You don’t like a store? Don’t shop there. If everyone who felt this way actually DID that, things would look (AND COST) a lot different. “
Black friday didn’t bother me a bit. Why? Because while the rest of you were fighting the crowds, know where I was? CAMPING.
I just got back about an hour ago. No crowds on highway 101 tonight. Nope.
Ah either the same bitcher or someone else who missed out on a 56″ flatscreen.
It’s deja vu all over again.
I can just imagine how crazy the malls and stores were on Black Friday, people think they are getting great deals, but do you honestly think stores are losing money…the prices crept up slowly recently, then they offer 25% off. Back to original price…only store that didn’t do that was Timmies.
I’m waiting for that slimmed down rabid racist, the Rev Al Sharpton and his equally fuckish buddy Rev Jesse Jackson, to go on a rant against the use of the word Black. Considering that there’s been shootings, stompings and arrests up the wazoo, perhaps Jihad Friday might be more appropriate?
Thanks, “greedy big box stores”. I just saved 1000 bucks on a sweet-ass, washer/dryer set for the wife’s Christmas present. Now all I need to get is a new mop and broom and she’s all set for another year of doing women’s work. Yay, men rule!!!!
I’m so sick of people and the “don’t support big box stores! Buy local!” attitude. Sure, instead of buying something that someone needs, on a great sale, I’ll buy them a thoughtful, $120 hand-knit Llama-wool scarf. That seems necessary.
I liked Canadian Tire’s pre Black Friday sale. Red Thursday!
COMPRO ERGO SUM
I think an important philosophical point is being overlooked here. Indeed, it concerns the locus of identity for modern man and, perhaps even moreso, for modern woman.
In the 17th century the famous philosopher Rene Descartes asserted “Cogito ergo sum” (“I think, therefore I am”). His point was that since every thought must have a thinker, this proved that thought itself established proof of woman’s existence. Recent attempts to overthrow Cartesian “dualism,” the inner/outer dichotomy of Decartes’ world – we could never know with absolute certainty the reality of the external world but only our own internal reflections, sometimes sarcastically called the “Cartesian theater” in which we were both the spectators and actors in the drama – have met with only limited success. But I digress.
Instead of Descartes’ “Cogito ergo sum” we must now transform it into the modern mantra, “Compro ergo sum” (“I buy, therefore I am”). What has happened is that, lacking all thought modern woman believes herself to come into existence in the act of buying something. Before and after making her purchase – usually some bodily ornament – she inhabits a shadowy half-world, barely alive. But, at the orgasmic moment of the purchase, she blossoms. She has entered the world of existential reality. If only for a brief moment in time, she has become real!
A pleasure as always.
Cheerio!
Oh go ride yourself hippie. People work for their money; they can spend it where and how they want. Some actually enjoy being in crowded malls hunting for the illusion of sweet deals. I personally rank it up there with dinner theatre and root canals, but it didn’t stop me from buying a brace of books at Chapdurz, just as a big flip-off to the Buy Nothing Day set. If you’re happy with a locally sourced, hand crocheted Joel Plaskett foreskin warmer from the Farmers Market , fill your boots.
And Fuck Right Off with your “Oh Noes – Creeping Amerikanism- Invasion of the Body Snatchers” bullcrap.
You are an American in the same sense that a German or a Belgian is a European. Get used to it.
Joel Plaskett and foreskin together, I’m wet!
I like foreskin!
Right on!
Let’s make damn sure all those companies stay in the red this season, go out of business… and we have no stores to shop in!
yeah!
die consumerism…. die!
Shop if you want to… avoid the mob if you don’t.
