This bitch is to the media for scaring us all rather than informing us, and to the hypochondriacs who are taxing the health care system because of it. I have been bed-ridden for 10 days with the company of the dreaded pandemic that is coursing through the city’s misinformed veins. I went to the over-run flu assessment centre and was sent on my way after a 5 hour wait and a two minute consult with a nurse because my sore throat, fatigue, cough etc. did not seem “severe enough” to be treated. Was it because I was polite in acknowledging how busy you were? Two days later I was gasping for breath in the hospital with a rising fever and the most painful coughing fits I’ve experienced in my life. I have no note for my professors from the hospital because they don’t write sick leave notes for H1N1(I’m guessing that it’s because…???). I wonder how many more people are being screwed out of proper health care and the treatment they deserve during this flu season due to misinformation. I’d also like to thank all of you people in the clinics who were giddily chatting away on your cell phones with plush colour in your cheeks, engorging yourselves on bags of fried food, no cough, no fever, and no apparent symptoms other than the ones in your heads…
And now there’s someone trying to tell us that we’re infecting our pet cats???

People are being turned away from their family doctors with any flu like symptoms and told to go down to the assessment centers.
most universities are not requesting sick notes for h1n1 because we understand that doctors (including our own university health clinics) are too busy to write every john doe and mary a note so they can be off work or school.

My program is hours-based and we can only miss a certain amount of hours. We are being given leniency by having extra hours tacked on to what we can miss, in case we contract H1N1, PROVIDING we have proper documentation stating that we have the virus or H1N1-like symptoms (this is straight from the Board of Education, NOT my actual school). If no one is writing notes, how will that work?
I also agree that this whole thing has been blown well out of proportion…no media outlet reports on the individual deaths from the regular ol’ flu virus every year…

hear ya, I was told at the walkin clinic I could not be there and I needed to go to the forum and the hospital would not take me unless my lung was falling out so I am screwed at work as well as I got dinged for not having enough sick time, so I have been at work for the last two days very ill and infecting my co-workers
and the world revolves one more day,fuck the flu.
I got both vaccines, then got swine flu four days later. So beware – the vaccines take 10 days to be fully effective.
