I feel the customer had every right to be mad but maybe that’s because one of my best friends is gay and I’ve had to watch the torment he had to go through growing up. No, the staff might not have been calling a gay person a faggot as it seems to just be another word that has somewhat changed meanings today but I can definitely see how someone would get offended. If I was with my gay friend and they overheard somebody else calling somebody else a faggot, I don’t think he would care but it still might make him think of the shit and horrible things he had to go through.

If you really believe that people have the right to say what they want using whatever words that they want, then you also have to accept that other people have just as much of a right to be offended by what they say and the words they say it with and call them out for it. OP, If you really want them to know why they are losing your business go back one more time and talk to the manager. Tell them exactly what you heard their employee saying and exactly why it offended you.
