Shame on the music and media industries for perpetuating the need for people to be thin. Adele is a very talented artist and to learn that she is viewed as “fat” greatly offends me. I’m bigger than her! Adele was put on a vegetarian diet so she would appear more appealing to the masses and thus sell more CDs, downloads, etc. Is that what it takes to be famous? Just shed a few tens of pounds? How is a voluptuous person supposed to get by in today’s world? Are parents supposed to tell their children “See Adele. She’s fat. It’s gross. Do you want to be fat like her too and unpopular?” That’s the message this is sending. Us fatties should band together and take on the masses with our asses. —Big with Some Bumps and Lumps

  1. “Adele is a very talented artist and…”
    stopped reading.

Shame on yourself and the droves of idiotic masses for buying into the shit they’re slinging.

  2. Are you listening to her music or watching her waistline, OP?Most people don’t think about such crapola when an artist has a set of golden pipes. Mama Cass rocked that shitstorm years ago with no apologies for her weight. Methinks the problem is with your own self-image, trying to justify your belly rolls.

Then you go on to whine: ‘”See Adele. She’s fat. It’s gross. Do you want to be fat like her too and unpopular?” Adele, unpopular? Yeah – right.

  3. Yes. This is what it takes to be THIS KIND OF famous.

Why does that bother you? I have an A-cup. Think i can ever get a job at hooters? Not fucking likely. Does it bother me? Not fucking likely.

Meeting a superficial set of standards is a prerequisite for being successful in a superficial industry. Look at independent artists and films if you want to see people of substance.

  4. and.. you know what? At the risk of negating my little thesis in the last comment.. clearly that’s NOT what it takes to be this kind of famous. Otherwise we’d be all like “Who’s Adele?”

They’re pressuring her to be thin. But clearly she has transcended that requirement so far.

god why do people care about the goings-on of idiots? If you really like that kind of music, enjoy it and ignore the social commentary.

    Be zen.

  5. I don’t know who this Adele person is, but parents should teach their children to have a healthy body imagine and to be kind to all living things.. not rely on the media which clearly doesn’t know how to raise their child or society.

  6. I’m like “Who’s Adele?”
I only heard her name after some shitty song…
“and that was a Adele with… ” something I can’t even remember, nor do I care to.

So see, it is possible to avoid “the hype”.

  7. unfortunately the media does raise some children and then they become consumer robots

  8. Adele is nowhere near thin, OB, and if you’re larger than her, than you’re likely overweight.

    *shrug*

    Face it, sweet cheeks.

I really don’t understand why fat people are so offended when someone shoves the truth in their faces. If you’re fat, you’re fat. Being “nice” and claiming you’re not isn’t changing the fact that you’re fat.

I’m not insulting here — I’m just telling the truth. If people who are fat get all pissy when someone points out the obvious than obv you have a problem with being fat and that’s your problem — do something to change it.

  9. Its called fat aggression PK. Fat people are more prone to violence and outbursts of rage. In fact 72% of all violent crimes in Canada are committed by people who are medically considered overweight.

I made up that statistic, but it doesn’t change the fact that most fat people end up committing violent crimes.

Actually, that also probably isn’t true…

Well I’m out of lies. Fat people are the worst.

  10. *shrug* I’m fat, and there’s no sense in denying it.

I have accepted the fact that yes, my ass WILL look fat in whatever I clothe it with. Why pretend it won’t/doesn’t?

  11. As a parent, yes, I will in fact tell my kids it is unhealthy to be overweight. As any responsible parent should.
Not that hard to eat proper food and get some exercise people. No excuse these days for most kids to be overweight.

  12. Well at least you’re not in denial about it. You seem to be happy with it so if you want to stay that way then no one can judge you for it.

  13. I don’t want to stay this way, zilla. That’s why I’m making efforts to shed the excess.

I’ve already gone down two sizes. The skirt I’m wearing today used to be tight, but now there’s a good four inches of extra waist material when I pull is out to the side.

Fact is, I’m too pretty to be fat, zilla.

  14. damn curiosity… just looked up this Adele character….
    I can’t STAND her….
    there’s something about her voice…
a certain… I don’t know what….will get her annoying fucking voice out of my head.
    *cranks Five Finger Death Punch*

  15. who cares.
so people pressure her to be thin if she halls into it that’s her own dumb fault.
And maybe it’s a good thing she’s being pressured into being healthier
maybe she’s having some health problems. since you know, it’s not considered healthy to be over weight.
she does a few things that aren’t so smart
she refused to quit smoking because it gives her voice “the edge”

  16. Listen to it enough zed and it wears your resistance down… Kinda like how AIDS kills your immune system.

Yes. I just compared Adele to AIDS.

  17. What??!! Adele has AIDS???!! WHEN THE FUCK DID THIS HAPPEN???!!! Jesus! Nobody tells me nothin’!

  18. give it a couple years…. everyone will be all ‘who’s adele?’
I refuse to listen to it ‘enough’ …
to be perfectly honest… half her pics look like she’s kelly osbourne and she sings about as well.

She reminds me of another horrible ‘artist’ … shakira.
    God I hate her voice…
They can fuck an ebola monkey for all I care.

  19. “See Adele. She’s fat. It’s gross. Do you want to be fat like her too and unpopular?”

My parents told me that… not about Adele but fat people and I appreciate that. They also added that I would be miserable and probably die before the age of 30…

  20. “As a parent, yes, I will in fact tell my kids it is unhealthy to be overweight. As any responsible parent should.
Not that hard to eat proper food and get some exercise people. No excuse these days for most kids to be overweight.”

Veloce- I’m not a parent myself nor am I presuming to tell you, (or any other parents, for that matter) how to raise your kids. That’s not my place and none of my business. However, with regards to your statement above, I DO agree with you but, as someone who has struggled with my weight for most of my life,I think there is a delicate balance to be struck. By all means, teach and encourage your kids to eat healty foods and to be active and get lots of exercise and enforce it as a life long goal. ESPECIALLY in this digital era we’re in where everything is remotely controlled and most kids would rather get entertainment from their X-Box and iPhone than on a bike or playing outside. But children should ALSO be taught that just because someone appears to be overweight doesn’t automatically mean that they are unhealthy, lazy or don’t exercise or eat properly. Nor are they any less of a person for being overweight. Teach them mutual respect for everybody, regardless of their body type and don’t let them get caught up in the Hollywood image of “the perfect body” or the “ideal weight”. IMO, there is equally no excuse for this line of thinking, either.
And please don’t think that I am saying you don’t already do this. Totally not my intention nor my place. I was just adding to your common sense post.

  21. Come on, OP. You know god damn well that if you had the kind of money these stars do you would have a personal trainer and a chef and get yourself in shape. Who doesn’t want to be the best they can be? Would anyone really rather be overweight than not? One major reason that obesity is on the rise is that it is so much more expensive and time consuming to live a healthy life, than not. Adele just won a bunch of grammys, who gives a shit if people call her fat? What can your kids learn from this? That just because you don’t look like a supermodel doesn’t mean you can’t be successful! That if people call you fat, so fucking what? Don’t let that hold you back. That’s a lot better than victimizing them and expecting the world to be nice to them just cause. Some people are fat! Lots, actually, and lots of them are successful! Doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t make efforts to not be overweight.

Nothing wrong with encouraging people to lose weight and live healthier, but there are right and wrong ways to go about it. Shaming or being cruel to overweight folks is not cool in my book, but what’s wrong with telling someone matter-of-factly that obesity causes a lot of health issues including depression, diabetes and hypertension, and that if they cut some things from their diet and exercise a bit they could improve and extend their life? Obesity IS kind of gross because it’s a result of loading your body full of junk and sitting on your ass instead of going and busting a sweat. Your lifestyle is your business but people don’t have to support it or encourage it. I got a friend who I had to disassociate myself with because I couldn’t watch him drink and smoke and eat his way to death. It’s disgusting and depressing.

  22. i thought that people listened to this shit, not watched it. however, if you want eye candy, then there you are.

  23. “Who doesn’t want to be the best they can be?”

Because obv all fat people are inept.

    “Obesity IS kind of gross”

    Fabulous!

“because it’s a result of loading your body full of junk and sitting on your ass instead of going and busting a sweat.”

    Mmmhmm. Right.

  24. Hay, don’t ask me, zed — I’m inept, kinda gross, and all I do is load my body full of junk and sit on my ass.

    YAY!

    😀

  25. its ok. according to my bmi i’m considered obese.
    don’t listen to that shit.
at 5’8 i’m only supposed to weigh 150 pounds tops ooops… that was 40 pounds ago.
if you carry the weight well and feel healthy you’re not “obese” or “fat”

  26. OP, statistically, 1 of 3 of the insensitive commentors on this website are obese or will be obese.

  27. I’ve been reading that BMI is not really a good way to measure such things. It’s an outdated method.

  28. If you’re fat, you’re fat. Being “nice” and claiming you’re not isn’t changing the fact that you’re fat.

Yes. I’m sick of that shit. It’s unhealthy to be anorexic, sure. But it’s also unhealthy to be fat. Neither body image is a healthy one and shouldn’t be promoted to the average impressionable dingus.

  29. Of course I forgive you.

    For THAT.

HOWEVER, I don’t forgive you for never actually making my birthday up to me, mister! *scowl*

    😛

  30. Calories in/Calories out.. It’s not fucking rocket science..

Fat people are fat because they take in too many calories in relation to the calories they burn…

Fat empowerment!? Give me a fucking break, “Ooh you’re so beautiful and powerful because you’re a lard arse and you pretend that you’re cool with it..”..

Empowerment isn’t threatening everyone who is average sized or dares to mention food, that’s called a serious personality flaw.

There is a vast healthy range that excludes the skeletal micro-models and the Jabbas washing themselves with a rag on a stick…

My daughters are cool, neither skinny nor chubs. I feed ’em well and let them work it out for themselves..

Of course none of this has to do with the grating “Me Me Me!!” culture in North America where it’s better to foster the fatties so they can sell yet more shit to them…. Oh no…
