Taking the bus down Barrington the other day, looked up and saw flags hanging from the posts intimating the incredible heritage and history of Barrington Street.
I`ll tell ya what city council or whomever is responsible, when Barrington street is filled with Businesses outside the Pita Pit and the Freak Lunch Box that make money and stay put, then, and only then start making those claims.
I see more papered off store fronts than I do viable and sustainable businesses. Barrington street is both a joke and a mess, and I am confident that the powers that be will continue to expand the laughs on the street with their continued negligence of what once was, from stories I have been told, a vibrant street in the city. —Lies, Lies, Lies

I was walking down Barrington on Saturday…..that street is officially dead. Most of the buildings at street level have papered windows, or mere window displays from Attica. Barrington needs a serious flip.
Apparently there are plans to push the rejuvenation – and some $ being sunk in there too. Here’s hoping it take hold soon.
There was a Coast article back in June or July outlining a revitalization project for about 8-10 buildings along Barrington. Grants have been applied for but I’m not sure what the current news is. If they’re putting up banners and shit, though, I’d think the project must be advancing. There are also plans for an office or apartment tower on top of the Zellers Building that is being proposed: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread…
The ‘flip’ is indeed in the works, it seems.
