I got two tattoos done back in Aug and they bleed blue under my skin. The female owner has tried to tell me that it is bruising. I went to other tattoo artist and they said it was bad ink and it bled. I told this woman that this was the opinion of many artists and she said that the other tattoo artist were trying to stab her in the back. Her husband was no better he argued with a nurse about bruising and said that I bruise easy and it could take up to a year for the bruising to be gone. I am very disappointed in my tattoos they are not my first but will be my last from that place. All I wanted was my money to try to have them fixed. Which they never offered to do… —Mad

  1. Did you do your research before allowing these artists to perform what is basically a surgical procedure? The last person I’d want to fix a botched job is the botcher. Consider yourself lucky they didn’t offer. A word of wisdom: getting a tattoo? The onus is on you to research things like to source of the ink being injection under your dermis, what constitutes universal barrier protection, not just needle sterilization, and what certication the artist has achieved in sterilization. And remember, surgical gloves are only used to protect the artist. They have absolutely nothing to do with client protection. Don’t go to just anyone with a tattoo studio. Always choose the best, you will be wearing the results for life. Go for quality art. Caveat emptor.

  2. meh… until you get em fixed you can be all the bad PR you want to them…
just proudly show it everywhere and write under it (in marker…) where it was done and not to go there.

Any tattoo artist worth his/her salt will want you to show off their GOOD work and fix any blotches or rough spots pro bono.

BTW, that term is now erased from my vocab from this moment on….
there is nothing about Bono that is remotely ‘pro’

  3. Head on over to Dal’s physics department….I’m sure they have a laser they can use to burn that tattoo off you. Maybe even a few pounds too if you’re obese.

  4. Tommy, are you needling me? Come here to get my nasties out and maybe have a laugh. My ideas go elsewhere, so if you want to take a stab at the tatt removal biz, it’s all yours!

  5. Can we have hints about where not to go please?
I’m still in the market for an artist I’m comfy with.

  6. I agree Cannatell, my son wants to get one but I have not idea where to tell him to go, I got some at a place called, I think, Krystal Blade, a few years ago but I don’t think they around now. I’ve checked out some on line but it’s still hard to tell, word of mouth is big deal when it comes to this.

  7. i am not affiliated with any of these shops
    utility
    adept
    permanent ink
it always depends on what you want, be it animals, words, tribal etc

  8. There’s a friend I have who has wicked tattoos and he said the only place in Halifax he trusts they charge $100. up front no matter what size,I think they’re off of Barrington maybe? Sorry I don’t know the name but will find out! They definitely know their stuff! He has over 20 tattoos and all gorgeous, no problems.

  9. Hahaha someone went to Dragass and Butterfuck, huh? The other, water-appelated shop on that street is the one you should’ve gone to.

  10. And ‘bad ink’? Bullshit. They just rammed it in too deep. If who the OP is posting about is in fact who I think it is, I was fixing shit from this place once a month. Some people had scabs, SCABS, that lasted for months without healing. I have no idea how this place hasn’t crashed and burned.

  11. serves you right, fucking most tats are stupid and ugly, and just plain dumb. we are not in a tribal culture here, and not expected to mutilate our skins, for the sake of other idiots. would i ever get one, not on your fucking life. why, because i do not trust even the cleanest place, not to give me some type of nasty fucking little thing, from a supposedly clean needle.
i know of at least 3 people that died that way, and place got off free and clear. this happened a long time ago, but i still have very little faith, things have changed much.

  12. Donk is right. If your ink is bleeding outside of where it should be it is due to improper skills on the part of the tattooist. That’s exactly what happens when the ink has been injected too deep into the dermis. It is not fixable except by getting a cover-up tattoo.

  13. There’s a really good award winning tattooist out in Elmsdale/Enfeild
You take the Enfeild exit & drive to Elmsdale. He’s on the right hand side, white home that has been converted to a tattoo studio. He’s also got an online site.
Silver City Elmsdale…I am in no way involved with this person or the business. But I have friends who have been inked at this establishment, one has a full arm & leg the girl has 2 large pieces.
Very nice work. My next one is going to be done there.

  14. Anyone remember the name of the guy/studio in PEI who does quite exceptional work? He was mentioned on LTWWB before but that bwas awhile ago and I’ve forgotten.

  15. there have been many recommendations, for tattooists, in this vortex. it depends on so many variables…look at their work on paper and on flesh. if you want something specific, go to the best person, for that job. if you have any second thoughts…run

  16. There is a new shop that opened up a few weeks ago by the two amazing tattoo artists who just left Adept. It’s called Brass Anchor Tattoo Lounge on Spring Garden. The guys are great, friendly, talented, clean and stand by their work. They make you feel comfortable and charge reasonable prices. I have 3 tattoos by Steve and am getting my fourth one completed this week. I am in no way affiliated with them (do I need to say that Painey???).
Go check them out!! I’m never going anywhere else.

  17. I’ve had tattoos by the guys who left adept, great guys and great work. Love to hear the backstory on their departure, I always got the feeling that it wasn’t exactly a great place to work.
