This is to the most unprofessional call centre I have ever had the misfortune of working at in my entire life. The staff is unapproachable, the trainer is sooo blonde and ditzy that she spends more time like talking about her personal life like she just like don’t know like what’s going on. Thank fuck that I only have a few more days left in this hellhole then I’m outtie. Never in my life have I been sooo embarassed to say I work at a certain place in my entire life. The promises at an interview are bullshit and change once you get on the floor and they also try to hype this place up to be an “office”…it’s a call centre nothing more nothing less. Remember karma is a bitch and all the bad is gonna fuck ya in the end. —Pissed Off Employee

you must be talking about the maniacs place. yeah, they are fucked, same as the other place on the darkside.
professional and call center don’t go together in most cases. The one i worked at in kentville was fighting to try to make it legal to keep paying employees there regular wage of 10 dollars an hour, even as minimum wage surpassed it.
A call centre job isn’t actually that bad. The job itself is tolerable, especially if inbound.
I worked at 2 myself in the past and the pay was ok compared to what we did.
As long as you didn’t take things personally from the clients that called in (most are just craving attention and want someone to talk to but there are the odd callers that actually do have billing and technical issues), you’re fine.
The problems I faced were more internal. From the sad supervisors that start power tripping because being a TL at a call centre is the best thing that happened to them, to the empty and fake promises we get. From the “depending on who you fuck not know” mentality to the arrogance of some idiots that work there.
Call centres are supposed to be professional places but unfortunately they’re managed by idiots here. I love the discrimination that goes unpunished also. Not to mention how some high school dropouts manage to get manager positions instead of university educated or more well experienced staff because they fucked someone in management!
Sadly, professionalism is a word not in the vocabulary of many businesses in the HRM. ;(
I don’t agree with the karma section of this post most of these people don’t think they’re doing anything wrong and if you’re not happy there then there’s the door. If you stuck around complaining constantly driving everybody nuts while you were getting paid Karma would be after you.
That is, unless you have been improperly trained and then let go otherwise sorry your life hasn’t turned out the way you wanted it to OP its not like you were layed off for a year and was $200 away from foreclosure and your credit might never recover.
Oh and I’m pretty sure I was layed off because the company forgot I had 4 position tickets (recession layoffs were the ones’ with the least qualifications) since I was pigeon holed for so long on other stuff (no one would stay with the job).
So how’s that for a bitch worthy experience.
I wish the Coast would do an article on this subject – I’ve always wondered what an 8 or 12 hour shift was like at a typical call centre – it would be intriguing to see such a day chronicled hour by hour by a few different workers.
There are many people that would love to have a job at a call center right now. I worked for many years at a call center years ago and it helped many people buy cars, houses etc. Sure being on a phone all day might not be a dream job but it is a job and served the purpose for many in this province. Bad bosses can be in any company.
Dear Robyn, I know same here!!!
I honestly have no idea how they did that.
I worked at call centres for 7 years. No freaking way I would have been able to buy a house or car based on that income.
Yes bad bosses can be in any company. Sadly I hear about bad bosses everywhere!
As I mentioned the job itself isn’t to blame, it’s who’s running the show and managing it!
Minacs or TeleTech, OB?
