I am afraid I misjudged you… you seemed violent and cold… and the last thing I thought I would do on Saturday is end up completely submerged in you. Mind you, it took a lot of talking and for a while it seemed too much talking would put an end to the chance I’d ever feel your embrace.

In the end, you welcomed me and my friends. And I am proud to say that we did it. Although it was only a matter of seconds, the feeling of exhilaration that accompanied our plunge far outweighed the moments of fear and horrible anticipation that preceded it. I’ll see YOU again New Years Day. —Newly refreshed passenger on the Polar express

  1. Ahh that makes complete sense now. And here I thought it was about some random hookup at a hotel that shares the name of this love.

  2. Hahaha… I knew my cryptic post would cause confusion. Sweeeet. Although I was hoping angel would have seen it by now and been the one to explain. But yeah, Saturday we went for a dip around 3pm at Lawrencetown Beach. One of the crazier things I have done in my lifetime, but surprisingly pleasurable. Now I am in search of my next crazy adventure- any ideas? Or better yet, any volunteers to join me?

  3. Wow…I had no clue what this about….Jonno threw me off a little. Thanks Miss Pain for making it clear!!!

  4. I see. Was this dip in the Atlantic done with or without clothes? We need details, dammit! 😛

  5. Haha… Orgy… wouldn’t you like to know. All I can say is, those who pulled over to the side of the road to watch received a little show.

  6. i have gone swimming in lots of places, the bay of fundy near parrsboro was cold enough for me^^those big beautiful beasts are in danger hugo…rooooo

  7. I know painie, but we can’t mention them along with climate change.
A guy at work came up with an idea (he sent it to the government), take all the carcasses from the seal hunt, load them into a freezer ship, take them to the bears. A stop-gap solution, but a good one I think.

  8. I’m not sure if I got moderated, or if I didn’t press comment? Maybe it was too long? 🙁

:)Goofy Hugo- why do they need to cull 270,000?

Climate change- Humbug – blame it on the bovines.

  9. Let be realistic, and call it what it is, a hunt.
270,000? I’ll take your word on it.
Why? Because that’s all the government will let the hunters take.
If baby seals weren’t so cute, but looked like a carp instead, nobody would give a damm.

Remember that shot? The seals mother wouldn’t go near it afterwards, it smelt wrong.

And a denier to boot, wow, Im disappointed.

  10. No Hugo, I don’t remember the shot…but I understand your indeunndo [sp]

Look I know there can be an imbalance in Nature, due to our past exploitation of certain species, whales and cod are two. We’ve been greedy in our stewardship of our food sources and yes, I believe we have progressed mostly in being better guardians of such resources. I also understand Native rights and fisher families of the East/West coast and I have no problems with any of them seeking a living, from the seas. What I have a problem with is the sheer numbers of the cull. Where’s the whale/bear populations, that feeds on seal? Why are we exporting it to China? to name just one place. China has her own seaboard that she can pillage from. They already are decimating the shark population. FYI sharks are not quite as cute as seals:) SO! That doesn’t mean they need to be hunted down for their fins. For what soup and lipstick? It breaks my heart, to hear these senseless, wasteful slaughters.

My last statement was meant as a lark. hahaha!

I don’t think we disagree on that?

It’s the constant drone of people in denial, about climate change, that sees me irked.

  11. I’ll spare you the pictures, Hugo. And this is an older article with BB, in it. However, the numbers of recent hunts are actually more factual than the #’s I gave you. One can find differing polls and the like. But Fisheries Canada does have numbers close to a million over a 3 year period. How long do you think that depletion can survive? This is not raised live-stock that one can replenish, on short notice. They are mammals, with a Gestation Period: 11.5 months, with 4.5 months dormancy of the fertilized ovum (delayed implantation).

Pup Info: A single pup weighing about 11kg (22 lbs) is born each spring from mid February to March. Pups are born with white fur. Unfortunately, Harp seal pups are currently “harvested” for their fur. 95% of the pups taken are only a few days of age to 3 months.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2004/04/05/internat…

  12. Now I’m going to explain about furs. Once a pup gets mottled or specked, their coats are less valuable, for the simple reason that dyes, penetrate differently on the be-speckled coat. That’s why they are esteemed of higher value when they are white and young.

Can you give me a good reason to kill these animals, for their 22lb carcasses? Food? Highly unlikely. One would be better off raising good size dogs for subsidence. They have a fraction of the gestation period.

  13. So what’s it going to be Mr Hugo Magoo? Are harp seals being hunted for food, luxury items or to bring back the cod fishery, that we have exploited?

I need to apologize to the OP…it is the LOVE section, and not the bitch pew.

    Merry Christmas to all:)

  14. Many years ago, the most beautiful pelts I ever felt/worked with was sheared beaver. Similar to chinchilla, once sheared, yet not quite.

  15. OMG… I have been hijacked!!! Well done I must say. I always wondered just how it would feel. You may all proceed……

  16. It’s weird, isn’t it?? Madame Grace went on a bit of a tangent. We can go back to penis shrinkage if you prefer?? I prefer when it’s the opposite, but hey, that’s just me ;p

  17. How about all 3 Grace. Pulled an all-nighter, eh?

Back on topic, Mexico runied most Atlantic swimming for me 🙁
If the water makes my shins ache, I sunbathe 🙂

  18. Thanks for the link Ralm.
    Nice christmas pic, Hugo.

No worries paingirl. I’d like to keep those polar bears swimming freely.
