If the superstore really cared about the environment, they’d start using closed-door refrigerators. The power that is wasted to operate an open refrigerator is astronomical compared to the closed type.

C’mon, be real. You don’t really think that they give a fuck about the enviroment beyond that of a marketing gimmick, do you? Even Wal*Mart is onto it. Its the new way to get money out of people. Fuck, 20 years ago it was seal pups. Grab a glove.
How can it be a gimmick if it can make a difference? If everyone made a small effort, the world probably wouldn’t be in its current state- and don’t try to pull out any conservative conspiracy theory crap that global warming isn’t happening. Giving a shit about the environment- even if its just publicity, will at least promote more awareness. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, even if as the OP pointed out, the Superstore is a but of a hypocrite…Maybe I will plant a tree- maybe everyone should plant a tree. Is that supposed to be an insult to people who may actually care about the environment because if it is, its not working. Matt, maybe if someone dropped you off in the Brasilian rainforest, you may change your mind…No, I do not fit the stereotype of a granola, tree-hugger but I make an effort to reduce my global footprint. It’s the least we can do- until Mars is opened up for habitation.
