I called the police today as a car driver TWICE nearly hit me; the second time on purpose. He stops and tries to assault me. I call 911 (rude dispatchers – fuck!). They come. The officer is distracted by another car driver and allows the perpetrator to leave the scene! I tell him they guys is leaving. The office tells me that I have to wait my turn! But he guy is leaving! Again he yells at me, “wait your turn!”

for the record, I am not a cyclist. I never had a bike and never learned. but I have no problem whatsoever believing OP’s version of events. because I have seen it on the road. seen the look of murderous rage that some drivers can get when they are forced to hang back for 2 or 3 friggin SECONDS before being able to pass a cyclist without knocking him into the ditch.
and yah, some cyclists scare the crap out of me, as a driver, because I really am terrified of causing them harm with my vehicle. and when they scoot around my heart rate goes up. so I can believe this happened.
and…I can also believe the cop said ‘wait your turn’ and let the driver bugger off because Op was probably shaking and spluttering and fuming with rage and adrenalin and so he looked like a looney. ( I looked like a looney other day when I got scared on the road) but I really think cops should be better trained to look past the looney look to see the fear underneath.
hope you got the murderous bastards license# and also make a report about the officers behaviour. in writing, nice and calmly when your heart rate settles down.

I don’t understand this. You call 911, the cops arrive, get distracted by another driver and tell you to wait your turn? Why were they there INITIALLY if it wasn’t your turn? Cop has no attention span and a dangerous driver gets away. Valid bitch OP.

A guy I know, Dwane, was returning (biking) to NS from the “Southern States” when he got on the wrong side of a road rage incident. The guy in the car was seriously trying to kill him. If I remember right it was a freeway chase that took 20 minutes or so, when he finally spotted a Cop Dwane pulled over and yelled that someone was trying to kill him.
The Cop yelled back that he was busy and about to respond to an attempted murder on the highway. No sooner than he screamed “THAT’S ME YOU FUCKING IDIOT!!!” the guy in the car goes tearing by.
Anyway, Dwane was alright, just shaken, and the car driver crashed just down the road a bit, fleeing the State Troopers.
Remember the old adage: When seconds count, the Police are just minutes away.
Bro Tim must be investigating this incident thoroughly to ensure the good names and reputations of HRPD are upheld! We all await to hear about how the alleged was in the wrong like they usually are 😉
The law that states a motorist must stay 1 metre away from a cyclist is similar to the law making motorists yield to buses pulling away from the curb…they are only meant to placate us so the police can have more time to have idle chats…
