This is my bitch. I thought I added that it was at 4 in the morning and we have had frost overnight the last 3 days but since I wrote it at 4 in the morning I probably left that out. Also 10 minutes later the dog was back out front barking again so I have no clue what was going on when the lights came on and I assumed the dogs were let in. Probably the owner smoked another bowl of meth and went back to sleep. I called animal control back but have no clue what or if any action was taken. I also spoke to a neighbor who says she doesn’t know the owner but this has never happened before. For their sake I hope it doesn’t happen again because my cats take huge shits.
THe dogs were just barking to keep warm.

What breed of dog. This is important. A husky, malamute etc would be very comfortable in cold weather, where a chihuaua isn’t. As for the barking, now that is unacceptable.

I have never seen them out and about (we moved in just over a month ago) but from what I could see the one out front loked to be a burly boxer type, very short coat definitely not warm, don’t know about the other 🙁

No a boxer is not suited for cold weather. But like I said a northern dog thrives in cold weather and around here we never get temps too cold for them.
I feel the same way about people who let their cats out to roam. After finding mine squished on the street in front of my place last year, I cringe at the thought of letting them roam free.
If you can’t treat your pet, dog or cat, like a valued member of your family, with a curfew when they are put out on a chain, then you should not be an owner. They can be no more responsible for their own well being than a child. We need to check if they are too hot/cold, hungry/ thirsty, and any other basic needs they need met, including their personal safety. The laws should be stiffer; they deserve better.

believe it or not, dogs are better equiped to handle, than humans. take the husky breed as an example. dogs shed their lighter summer fur for a thicker winter one. small lap dogs were never mean to be outside for periods longer than a few minutes. folks should read some of the shit about the various breeds, and the truth will set your mind free.

Wog I live in Prospect Bay, we had frost that night and the two previous nights so, yes, it was cold. If anything is making enough noise to wake up myself, my boyfriend and our two toddlers at 4 am IT IS MY BUISNESS.
Dogs should not tethered out all night. For one if they see or smell any activity by other animals or people, they will start barking and create a disturbance. As well, your dog is vunerable when left out unsupervised and could be attacked by coyotes or stolen. If left to roam, there’s no end to what can happen.

While the dog may have fur and can endure the cool evenings, it doesn’t “belong” outside. They’re social animals, they need to be with the rest of their people. You have to think of the canine not just yourself. They’re pack animals, we’re their pack, keep them inside any evening unless you’re out there with them.

Who cares about the type of fur a dog has?!? Leaving a dog to live outside in the backyard causes them to become aggressive and territorial. Dogs who are forced to live like this not only often become a nuisance, but a menace as well. What is the point of having a pet if it’s not going to be inside with you??? It’s not a toy you can take off the shelf to play with when interested and then put back when you get bored.
