Ashes to asphalt
All I want is to not throw my cigarette butts on the ground. I work in a downtown mall that has decided to prepare for the new smoking legislation by removing all the butt containers. Bad idea. Now people stand outside, smoke and then toss their smokes t

Ahhh yes, but it’s ok to do anything to smokers. We are the lepers of the nation these days and our situation devoid of sympathy, understanding or even common decency. There is no easier target and no more socially acceptable human toilet in which to collectively do #2. In the age of PC everything and everything from overeating to net use being classified as an “addition” worthy of understanding, smokers are seen as filthy, weak people even though we are the ones trying to deal with an ACTUAL addiction. So, the malls take away the trays to make it seem like smokers enjoy living in a sea of butts while spending extra to create larger and larger food court seats to accomodate the other butts who are truly “suffering from their plight”.No surprise.
I don’t see how removing public ashtrays is going to entice any smoker to quit. It will only get their backs up. So now we’ll have to deal with something even worse … the litter. Brilliant!
I never smoked, but it doesn’t bother me if others do. As long as they are not blowing it up my nostrils, I don’t give a shit. Smoke what you want, drink what you want, choose to follow religion if you want, walk if you want, read a book if you want to, dance if you want to… It pisses me off that many holy rollers think its their God given right to pester everyone. I guess they only do selective interpretation of the bible “Do unto others…”. I guess maybe we should return the favor and nitpick and pester everything they do!Lets see whats next on the campaign trail: – Smoking – Gambling – Alcohol – Sex (damn the condom!) – Books (start the fires) – Women Abortion – Women Working (gots to be barefoot..) – Immigration (no other religion exists) Man, who the hell pissed in their Cheerios!
So quit smoking, assholes. Simple really. That’s kinda the point.
*sign* The empathy for smokers is amazing. “so quit”…..would be nice but while I’d never wish an addiction like this on anyone, I do wish everyone could know what it is like.Amazing that one of the largest, most intense and dangerous addictions in western society receives so little support and understanding while other half baked excuses for addictions get talk shows dedicated to them.
‘so quit smoking’….well mister asthma, if cigarette smoke bothers you this much, wolfing down car exhaust fumes all day must do you a world of good too, huh?
if u knowlingly harm others with your 2nd hand smoke u r guilty of abuse in my eyesmost of us in the ‘civilzed’ world r guilty of ecocide
so quit smoking … All the rants and tantrums in the world are not going to do a damn thing to make a person butt out. Haven’t you learned that by now? Even monkeys learn from repetition. All the negativity, nagging, glitzy advertising, bastardization, etc. etc, does NOT work for serious addictions. Do you understand that yet?Who’s the retard …. you are.
Yeah, in an age of very little self denial whatsoever, I would love to see the holier than thou people out there who say “so just quit” give up something even remotely comparible so easily.I cannot even really compare a smoking addiction to anything a non-smoked experiences but imagine giving up all alcohol, your favourite foods, TV/movies, the internet, coffee/tea, books, etc all at the same time. Now imagine having trouble sleeping because of it, being far more nasty at work, with friends and the like, having trouble concentrating at work, etc and imagine that after weeks of working at it, the above problems would all go away with a single smoke or two. Get the picture?I sincerely hope that the addiction is beaten over the long haul but this is just not even close to saying “hey, I gave up chocolate cake so they should be able to give up smoking”. Health authorities compare it to heroin so while no one wants the world to smoke, cut us a bit of slack.Oh and “asthmatic”, you can kiss my big rosy A*s.
It’s an addiction, fine. But whatever your reasoning for making other people inhale cigarettes no non-smoker will ever understand.
I agree and i’m not even a smoker. Removing the ashtrays was a horrible idea, because now I have to walk all over cigarette butts wherever I go. Give back the trays
