Why is being required to spell your name correctly on a business-based report a hard concept for you, “employee”? Imagine having you represent me with a gun when you can’t even take the time and attention to spell your name right! I don’t think you should be put in harm’s way over inattention to detail but that’s what’s going to happen playing such a role, isn’t it? Your coworker’s help is likely not required for you to fuck it up given such non-attention to the details. I can see why they’d be annoyed. Maybe you should simply learn the lesson, cross your t’s and dot your i’s, try to do a GOOD job BEFORE picking up a fire arm. You worked to get the job. Now work to keep it. Learning how to spell your own name the same way each time can do nothing but improve YOUR quality of life, right? Geeez

This bitch was hard to understand, but I think it is about a female cop who not only has to put up with shit from her male co-workers, but (at least) one of those male cops actually put her life in danger deliberately.
I am in total sympathy, OP. Females in non-traditional work roles generally have to not only constantly defend their right to do their job, but they have to work twice as hard to prove that they perfectly capable. And, in the case of a female cop, soldier or guard, they may actually have to pay for that right by taking a bullet because resentful male co-workers think that they shouldn’t be there and will not give them the same consideration that they would if they were male.
Outside of reporting him (which creates more resentment), the most that you can do is to make it clear to the male co-worker who is supposed to be watching your back that he has a back that must be watched as well. His petty backstabbing could result in him literally taking a knife in the back if he doesn’t take better care of his ‘partner’.

I certainly hope Kay doesnt tell people to get to work, cause she certainly doesnt… Usually the “Boss” leads by example… Hopefully shes self employed and is not wasting anyones time and money…

HKM, Nobody likes to be told and I think that’s more likely the cause this bitch rather than gender. The OP lists all kinds of reasons why gender should not be an issue. She seems to miss the idea that there’s more to her job to do well rather than handle her weapon in expert fashion. I’d also guess there’s likely nothing for the OP to “report” other than to highlight to her superiors how she can’t spell her name consistently and co-workers resent it. We don’t want that for the OP nor the further resentment she’d obviously experience in formalizing any complaint. No, the best the OP can do is pay attention to the details and do that part of her job better, that is, to be a better team-player who cares about all the necessary and menial details of her job like, yeah, spelling her name… sounds kind of important where police reporting is concerned.

Everybody knows that it’s tough for women to prove themselves in traditionally male professions—but most people know that from the start, and they grow a thick skin and do their best anyway.
I’m all in favour for correctness and care in every kind of work, but whining about your co-workers will not earn you the respect of your colleagues or superiors.
Your writing style implies that you are very young. That, I think is part of your problem. I hope that you do not speak to your colleagues, or to the public, in this style, as I would have a very hard time respecting a police officer (male or female) who spoke in “tween” language.
Work will get easier as you get more experience and maturity. And eventually, if you are good at what you do, people will treat you with more respect.

It sound does indeed sound like the OP is either new at the job or got into the force because she’s a chick. It’s a dangerous profession to be in just because you’ve got something to prove. Remember, just because you excel at the coursework, it doesn’t mean that you’ll do well in the practice.
