What the fuck is up with these anti-war retards that have been going around lately. Congratulations you nut jobs, no one likes war…
You are so self absorbed in what other countries are doing over there you don’t have a fucking clue what the Canadian Soldiers are doing over there. If you actually got your facts straight, you realize that obviously we can’t leave yet as a country, because we have morals and we don’t want to leave the people over there in a worse situation than when it all started, because that is what will happen if we as a country, Canada, just say fuck it and leave. We’re better than that.
So to all of you dim witted people who dressed up today and lay yourself down in front of the DAL SUB, get a life, learn what the military is doing for you. Don’t be so disrespectful to those of us who have family and friends over there by trying to bring “reality” to us here in Canada. If you want reality, how about you go over there and see it for yourself, firsthand what it’s like and stop sitting over here safe from the truth and trying to correct it from a distance when you don’t have the courage, duty, or honor to fight for you country.

Thank you for this bitch! There is SUCH a fine line between being anti-war and being anti-troops. I hate to break it to you, but war as a solution to conflict has always and will probably always exist. That doesn’t mean we have to like it, or that we shouldn’t try to avoid it, but please try and be realistic people. You think laying down in front of a building is so noble? More like sensationalist and dramatic. Here’s noble, go the fuck down to Afghanistan and lay in front of some insurgents and let us know how that REALLY works as a solution to conflict. Jesus Christ, we all love John Lennon but please can we cut the peace loving BS and focus on real solutions for real problems. FYI … Anyone wishing to support the troops may choose to wear red on Fridays as a sign of solidarity.
You are delusional if you think we as a country are brining any good to Afghanistan. I have family who have served through both wars in Afghanistan and major conflict areas in the world and I support the troops but not this mission. This is a battle that will never be won with west coast superhero democracy. Why do people blindly follow CNN and think that there is actual progress happening there? Read some alternative sources that are peer reviewed watch documentaries and go there if you want or feel that that is the only way one has a right to speak about the topic; But do you even know why Canadian soldiers there? We are part of the problem and if you really want to support the troops demand that our government help our soldiers and family pre and post deployment. Real attainable aid for ailments such as PTSD, broken bones and scars because we all know if you aren’t deployable you aren’t employable. I’m disgusted that wearing a red shirt on Friday is considered an adequate form of support
“Support the troops”. Just another slogan some politicians thought of to make morons like you support murder of other human beings, also known as war. Fuck you.
I don’t think anyone actually reads these comments before they post, but to re iterate, MY post, as well as the OP’s were not PRO-WAR North American superhero posts, they were ANTI useless forms of protest posts. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the people who serve this country, whether I agree with the people who put them there, or not. I wish people would spend less time on soap boxes and more time trying to effect change in real ways.
in my opinion, if you support the troops, you support the war.i do not support the troops or the war.
Supporting the troops does NOT include supporting the war.The troops/soldiers have no choice as to whether they will serve or not. Being a soldier/sailor/airman in our military means you will be sent where you are needed, regardless of your personal feelings on any issue. You can’t just “quit” your job with the military, as upon joining you sign a contract that is binding. A military member may request early release, but there is still a 6 month waiting period, and he/she can still be deployed during that period. Many of us who served found the military to be an amazing, very fulfilling career. Personally, I was in a trade where it would be VERY unlikely I would be sent to a war zone. I wouldn’t trade my military career for anything, and actually I wish I was still able to serve.I was released for medical reasons, none of which ever affected my job. However “universality of service” states that every military member must be “battle-ready”, and once I had to take insulin for my diabetes, I voided my contract. Insulin can’t be refrigerated in the field, never mind the fact that I’ve NEVER been in the field. So the military doesn’t control their actions in a war zone. Except for the Generals at the top, the Defence Minister and Minister of National Defence, and other political figures make all the decisions regarding Canadian policies and our actual presence there. So while I don’t approve of our governments’ policies regarding Afghanistan, I have much respect for those people who don’t have any choice but to serve their country in a very dangerous place.
Stephen Harper has already committed us to two more years, we are bound by this committment. Anybody who knows ANYTHING about the war, on either side, knows that this mean we CAN’T leave. Which means that these protesters are doing it for attention only, and I’d LIKE to use them as human shields over there, because they are belittling the sacrifices of brave men in order to say “LOOKIT ME I DO STUFF FOR CAUSEZ!”. This isn’t the 60s, the war isn’t Vietnam, and their wannabe-hippy bullshit is just pathetic. There are better way to influence the world, but then again, they wouldn’t get the attention they never got from mommy and daddy that way.
Half of these Fuck-Wits do not even have a clue. My friend didn’t want to lay there by their self, so I went along or I heard a couple of cool kids were doing it; let’s do it. More young sheeple, great. And most of the rest, like elocine said, are attention whoring. What can you expect from university students, they are just learning. I wish they would learn quicker though.
Realize that the troops that are over there are fighting for the rights of people to make these protests. I do not know if they did anything disrespectful towards the troops in these protests, however, the opinion that protesting a war is a disrespect to the troops is wrong. The troops fighting a war that is wrong is more of a disrespect to them.I’m not saying that the war is right or wrong. I don’t know enough of the facts on the war itself to give an educated opinion. But I do know that the troops fight to protect or freedom, such as the freedom to protest a war that people feel is unjust. Just as you have the right to bitch about it on here.Point being, don’t take it personal, its democracy baby.
Sadly, our military (like almost everything else) has simply become an extension of business. The mission in Afghanistan has nothing to do with liberating people our chasing terrorists. Our boys and girls are dying in that country to protect PRIVATE interests! Our freedom and liberty are not under attack. Corporations in bed with Governments are pushing hard to secure and exploit resources in that part of the world. To sell off the very last drop of someone elses oil or natural gas before even considering any new alternatives for energy. Afghanistan has no oil, but it is a central locale and pipelines are snaking their through the country already. But its not easy to build the infrastructure necessary to conduct business in a warzone. This, unfortunately is where our brave soldiers come in.
When was there a war that WASN’T about private interests? The south had some pretty big problems with slavery ending.. the USA was pretty content with Germany’s action until their military was attacked.. there haven’t been a lot of super noble wars, to be honest. The point is, we’re over there now and the country is in shambles. To leave now would be a disgrace and would be an extreme disservice to the people of Afghanistan and the soliders who have died already. When protesters imply that we should just pick up and leave and it’s “not worth it”, they are implying those who have already died for their country died for nothing. They are disrespectful, do nothing, look-at-me, wastes of oxygen.
So out of ‘respect’ for the kids we’ve sent to their deaths already to make rich men richer, we need to kill off some more. Interesting logic.
Yeah, go knock on the doors of some of the parents who have had kids killed and say “Your son died to make rich men richer” (with what? Richer in… less Taliban? Opium? What exactly does Afghanistan have? This is not Iraq here, remember) and see what they say. Hell, talk to any of the soldiers over there. It’s sad that they’re fighting for Canada and back here all they have to look forward to is a bunch of whiny pampered middle-class teenagers with 4-5 piercings and too much time on their lily-ass hands telling them they’re fighting something that “isn’t worth it”.
See where Afghanistan sits on the map? Right in the middle of everything. Pipelines carrying natural gas from the Caspian Sea are being built through Afghanistan as we speak. That’s where the money is my friend. Yeah, it sucks. I wouldn’t want to be the one to have to explain this to the families of slain soldiers either. But it wasn’t pimply-faced teenagers that sent them there.
No, it wasn’t, but they could stop belittling the hard work and sacrifice of others and find another cause to take up, like fair trade coffee or more babies for everyone or whatever those types want to shout-but-do-nothing-constructive-about next. If we didn’t have this war, where would they direct all their middle class boredom and angst?
I dunno. Botched piercings?
Elocine, you can move along to other topics you have interest in now. You know, topics like: those damned fags wanting to get married, those friggin liberals that want to take away your guns, and worst of all the foreigners that keep taking all your jobs and trying to force their religion on you. It’s hard for a true patriot like yourself to get ahead these days eh.
Oh, and by the way, if you feel so strongly about the war in Afghanistan stop being one of those types who “want to shout-but-do-nothing-constructive-about” and get on the plane instead of bla bla bla-ing on here.
“Elocine, you can move along to other topics you have interest in now. You know, topics like: those damned fags wanting to get married, those friggin liberals that want to take away your guns, and worst of all the foreigners that keep taking all your jobs and trying to force their religion on you.”Yep real mature, Egon. Instead of offering up a valid point you stereotype you’re opponent as a non educated backwoods fool. Instead you only make yourself look like a fool, as you bring nothing of any value to the table. The fact is, Elocine raises good points. Sure, Canada has private interests in the war, any war does. But at least they’re also working with the Afghan government to help stabilize the country so that when they pull out, it won’t be taken over by the Taliban like it was pre 9/11.You see, the problem with people who blindly protest the war in trivial protests held within universities and throughout the cities is that most of the people in those protests have no idea what the war is really about. They shout war! Booo! War! Booo and Canada can do better, but deep down, they know they don’t have any idea what they’re talking about. Instead they cover their face with paint, create vague ‘powerful’ posters and shout in their newly post pubescent ways telling the world that they too have a voice and they want to be heard; correct or not.Such meaningless arguments are sure to attract challengers, those who understand that as a first would Country, we have a certain obligation to protect others who can’t protect their own. Yes you may disagree, I don’t have any problem with that, but you don’t offer any reasons, so go crawl back in your little shout box with your friends trying to prove your ‘point’.
I am pro gay marriage, have never voted anything but Liberal (except one NDP slip up, but it was a riding ‘thang), pretty much never go to Church, and never said I wasn’t in the military (or that I hadn’t been to Afghanistan). I’m also a female. So yeah, good job on the stereotypes. I just, yknow, think about things, rather than following the doctrine of the group of people I so desperately want to fit in with, or however you make your decisions. And oh yeah, instead of protesting, I volunteer my time. With a lot of organizations who DO things I care about, besides yelling and getting “noticed”.
“most of the people in those protests have no idea what the war is really about””shout in their newly post pubescent ways””a bunch of whiny pampered middle-class teenagers with 4-5 piercings””Half of these Fuck-Wits do not even have a clue””their wannabe-hippy bullshit””get the attention they never got from mommy and daddy”Yeah, sure, in the future I’ll refrain from using stereotypes to advance my arguments.
Egon, you missed the point, which doesn’t surprise me. All you did was stereotype, and than act justified as if your point was made; only you had no point to begin with.
