What a shock coming back to Halifax on the 30th after Christmas holidays to find the city yet again awash in slush, slop, and snow, still not cleaned up DAYS after a storm. Again streets “plowed” 3 feet out from the curb, instead of tight into the curb. Again sewer catchbasins buried so that meltwater can’t drain, but floods and freezes causing a hazard. Again mountains of Bobcat-plowed snow dumped on street corners, trapping runoff so that street corners are obstructed and flooded for pedestrians and those using wheelchairs or walkers or strollers. Again snowbanks are shoved up against the rear exits of buses, making those back exits unusable. Has HRM learned NOTHING from last winter?! —I do a better, faster job shovelling it myself

8 inches of snow is only a “storm” while it is falling. 8 inches of snow on the ground is somewhat common enough that the same equipment that handles lesser amounts should be able to do the job
Halifax sucks at snow removal, Haligonians cannot adapt to weather changes, and thus any amount of snow results in a snowmageddon mentality. Sometimes I feel like I’m living in Vancouver.
Where’s the salt? The sidewalks turning into skating rinks with just one snowfall is unacceptable. I know of at least two people who suffered broken bones slipping on sidewalks since the current municipal gov’t has been in charge.
I feel like at least the city crews are doing well this winter. I see brine down before storms, they’re pretty prompt about clearing up after the storm has finished, and (the biggest thing of all!) the ramps onto sidewalks are actually cleared.
I don’t know about the areas not cleared by city crews though…
First world angst. Honestly, people are such pussies these days.
The job they are doing this year is as poor and sub-par as last year. No more need for the rebar curb markers right? Cause they GO NOWHERE NEAR THE CURBS. So the city saves money yet again at the risk and peril of it’s citizens. Way to go HAHAHAHALIFAX.
And despite repeated complaints to 311, the bike lane remain un-plowed…
Motorists should complain to the city rather than cut me off, rather than risking a smash with my bike lock.
And yet, there is a rant by a private plow driver complaining that too many people are made at him…………..waah waah waah
