What in the hell, fellow downtown Dartmouthians, were you thinking? I can’t believe that tired old bag of mothballs was voted in again, and we have to wait for yet another term to get something done around here. I love where I live, but I know that it can be so much better. For a place so central, and so close to the heart of the city, you’d think that a stroll downtown could give you a choice of dinners at decent establishments. Nope. Not even friggin’ groceries, and that’s bullshit. That’s what our councillor has given us—a steaming pile of bullshit that continues to get shovelled onto our dreams of a better community. Hundred unit buildings are going up like crazy in Bedford (adding to traffic congestion, mind you) , and we’re sitting on empty lots. Central suburbia, I wish you would change. —Sorry S.A., Wish You Got In

  1. think it’s bad now, wait til mr. harper gets another majority next time out. and we know he will, because he already paid for it. yep, politricks at their best.

  2. I was told the old ‘Old Mill’ site along with the lots that were car dealerships are presently underconstruction to build a large Soby’s complete with lots of part time never to be full time jobs keeping the area in poverty & the locals citizens 1 paycheck away from welfare …just where the employer(s) would love to have everyone in the entire working population under their thumb with NO BENEFITS…but you will have the ability to buy groceries in your area from all over the world supplied by the cheapest supplier … no matter what the quality!
Anyone know a recipe for salmon lice ?

  3. S.A. hasn’t lived in the area long enough, knows next to nothing about how council works, and has no control over the number or location of restaurants or grocery stores.
If you are upset about the vacant lots next to the bridge call the owner/s. You sound like ‘dartmouthy’. If you want more ‘hundred unit’ buildings go live somewhere else, try Bedford.

  4. I screwed that post up, been a long day.
The bitcher hasn’t lived in the area long enough, knows next to nothing about how council works, and a councillor (and HRM) has no control over the location of restaurants and grocery stores.
And try dining at Celtic Corner.

  5. Yes because salmon lice is sooooo dangerous to people. Fuck, just clean the damn thing, rinse it off and cook it. Not a fucking problem and definitely not the world disaster some environmentalist would have you believe. BTW, way to go Senate, for the upcoming seal cull.

  6. @Joeblow. I know enough about city council to know that when a developer pitches a project that is not endorsed by the councillor, it often doesn’t pass because why would the other councillors vote it in? So that empty lot by Banook will stay empty because Gloria doesn’t want a multi -unit building there and no developer would put in single family homes because it’s not economical. And for the record, I. said ‘choices’ of restaurants, since you can’t eat at CC all the time.
