To the guy riding the #14 bus Friday night, you’re a disgrace! My brother was visiting the city from rural Cape Breton, and while he usually takes his truck he decided to take the shuttle. At around 4pm or so, we decided to go visit our sister in Woodlawn and hopped on the #14. My brother had not been on a public bus in 30 years, so it was a gas for him. This jerk gets on the bus, throws his backpack on one seat and sprawls across the other two seats with his legs out in the aisle, right up front of the bus in front of the driver’s full view. Every person who boarded the bus had to step over his feet to get on. My brother is not a patient man and it took all my persuading to stop him from getting up and slapping the shit out of this guy, believe me, he’s capable. But the onus I believe is on the driver who occasionally looked in his rear view mirror to check the situation, to tell the guy to MOVE YOUR FUCKING FEET. We talked loudly enough to get his attention, but he just wouldn’t. An older lady boarded the bus and almost tripped, that’s when I had to physically restrain my brother, explaining “this happens all the time,” I was not getting a bus back because he drank about 12 beers and it wouldn’t have been good. I was ashamed at how society has declined. My grandfather always said, “it costs nothing to be nice, but it can cost a lot if you’re not.” If my brother or I had acted, we would have had to face the full extent of the law and been viewed as vigilantes. The bus driver should have done his job and it would have been avoided, instead, my brother left on Saturday with the belief “don’t ride public transit if you’re not into fighting or putting up with punks.” —Old Guy

For all you guys saying crap about Capers, we may stand out, but it’s because we were brought up different than you city folk. We have a sense of humor, are polite, and very kind people. There are so many ways the shithead on the bus could have been dealt with that don’t require a beating or legal involvement. Humiliating someone is a wonderful tool.. especially for that tool… lol
If the CB brother had the balls to attack the shithead, why couldn’t he have abused him verbally until he either smartened up or actually attacked the brother.. then any retribution would be self defence…
Lots of grey areas in this type of circumstance.. apparently nobody addressed the situation, be it the driver (does he get paid to bring wrath of shithead upon himself?)
I’ve seen abusers get away with assaulting their spouses in Sydney.. I was actually told by an RCMP officer to mind my own business!
