This morning I lost track of where I was and had to ring the bell just a few seconds before my stop so the bus driver had stop rather quickly. I walked up to the front instead of going out the back door so I could apologize for ringing it so late. She just sat there and didn’t look at me and didn’t say a word. I even looked at her for a extra second or two to see if she would at least acknowledge that I was speaking, but she didn’t.

I think they should review security tapes and if a bus driver is being a miserable bitch or prick then they should get a warning. Why would someone want to be a bus driver if they don’t like people in general? —Matt

  1. Makes you wonder why people have gone back to driving their cars. Mt supervisors have themselves to blame for the lack of people taking the bus… they have let the drivers get away with everything. The horny wives that block the front door is the first thing that has to go, next is the 2 twins that drive and last are the drivers that yak on their cell phones while driving the bus.

  2. If you expect them to be grumpy all the time, you’d be delighted when you meet cheerful ones. If you expect them to be cheerful, you’d be upset when you meet grumpy ones. Keep your expectations low and you’ll be a lot happier.

  3. Matt – blame privacy laws for not allowing transit officials to review the camera hard drives unless a complaint is received by Metro Transit and then they are only allowed to view the particular time and event. So the video can’t be used for quality control.

and for hello – don’t forget Metro Transit still allows union members (drivers) to act as part-time and relief supervisors. And there is no way these guys/gals are going to write up a fellow co-worker knowing full well they’ll be driving a bus alongside them the next week, never mind the flack and harrassement they’d get at the workplace and union hall.

They need to make a clear line separating management and union staff duties to have most of the problem disappear. And the upper management needs to stop listening everytime some of the less-flexible union membership cries “strike” when workplace rules get changed for the good of the system. I’ve never seen management intimidated like those at transit.

  4. Bus drivers in Edmonton (ETS) are waaayyyyy crankier and less friendly than Metro Transit drivers. Then again, they have a lot more shit to deal with thanks to half their passengers on drugs wanting to beat them up. If they don’t like dealing with people, though, they could just switch to driving the LRT! A few more training courses I know, but I’m sure the union would take care of it.

  5. OMG call the PC police, someone was cranky. Whoopdie fucking doo. You’re lucky the driver made the short stop rather than continue on to the next one (which would have been safer). But if they did that, you’d fucking bitch about that too/

  6. Good point Bro Tim. Last time I checked bus fare does not cover anything other than transportation. If you think the driver owes you his/her courtesy or attention then maybe we should give them tip jars.

  7. I wonder by how much the complaints would drop if the buses were automated like the tube trains and most modern airport transit systems? Maybe they could install a digital face like they have as dealers at the blackjack tables in the casino. Insert your ticket and it either smiles or frowns or tells you you’re an idiot for voting NDP.

  8. I can’t wait for an MT driver to make a thread about not getting tips for driving the bus.

PDG – where are you? Humour me, bro (lol).

  9. Privatize Transit, bust the union, and then you might have a chance of getting decent service.

  10. Argh, Metro Transit. Every time I hear of it I get that little bit of throw up coming up.

  11. Yea so I rode the bus this morning and guess what? the driver had a serious stick up his ass. Seriously it had to be the size a a fucking hundred year old redwood or something. i got on, showed him my transfer…had to hold it there for a few seconds and then say hello, heres my transfer. so when he finally waved me thru i stood beside the yellow line you know the line that you CANNOT PASS FOR WHATEVER REASON while the bus is in motion and the angry SOB told me to move back and sit down.
(just so yall know why i refused to sit…here is the reason. 11 yrs ago i was hit by an armour van. it ran over my pelvic bone. it didnt break. luckily i only suffered a fracture. it still hurts immensely to this day).
so i tell him, “i cant sit. my hip hurts.”
so i moved back without incident. i held onto the bar furthur down from the driver but still near the front of the bus. a minute later when we were nearing Mic Mac Mall he again told me to move.
“sit down he says. ppl get on and off via the front door. ur blocking traffic.”
so i said “when ppl get on or off i will move to make room for them.”
guess what he said next? “SIT DOWN!”
just then a young man got on the bus. guess where he stood? yep right next to me.
“thats it!” he shouts sit down you two. other people need to get on.”
the guy moved to the back without a spoken word.
i say, “whats your damn problem?”
“you guys are my damn problem” says he.
    “well dude im not moving.”
he glared at me. boy that was some AWFUL FUCKING STINKEYE.
anyway after i got off, i went home. i phoned 490-4000 and reported the prick. what do you think will come of my complaint? i honestly wanna know if they will actually do something this time. i doubt it. fucking cocksucking metro transit and fucking cocksucking drivers. I HATE THE BUS!!

  12. What do you think is going to happen? Management will give him a mild reprimand and the union will call a snap walkout in solidarity.
