After reading a story in the paper today about the bus driver and the courier driver, one has to wonder why the police did not file a report. If this had been anyone else he or she would have been charged. It seems to me that their supervisors let the drivers do what they want.

I’m thinking, for the time being, that it wasn’t as the story says. None of the passengers who were on the bus have come forward, and they would have known if the driver was hitting someone else – gently or not.
If it’s true, I’d say good for the bus driver. People need to realize that you can’t park in certain places regardless of whether it’s your job or not.
I’d tend to take the witness’s claims a bit more seriously if she had of ponied up a name. Anonymous sources are always kind of sketchy, especially if no one else has come forward. Who’s to say this “witness” doesn’t have a personal connection to the driver (or professional connection)? Those are pretty serious allegations to make against someone in a public forum such as the media so if it’s true the “witness” could at least give a name. The credibility of her story is pretty weak if she won’t even leave a name. And I know the CH got rid of a shitload of their staff, but c’mon, did they fire all their staff and hire random people off the street to research and write their stories? This is just bad journalism.
And I’ve seen people park in front of bus stops. It’s fucking annoying to both drivers and passengers who need to get on/off the bus. If this guy was parked in a bus stop he should’ve had his trucked smashed a lot harder than two “bumps.”
*driver of the courier van, I meant, when I said “personal connection to the driver” OOPS.
I agree with the bus driver, the idiot driving the courier even got a ticket for parking illegally, serves him right, get out of the way here comes the bus !!!!!!!!!!!
fuck that, the bus driver should have called authorities,. If this altercation lasted 20 mins, then they will know who he is, the only reason the courier didnt report was because it might cost him his job for being parked where he was parked. the only people that are allowed to bump or push a vehicle out of the way are police, paremedics, and firemen….FUCK THE BUS DRIVER!!!!!!
seems to be both incredible, and un-credible.
I like that buddy got a ticket… streets in south end are narrow to begin with let alone this guy hogging all the real-estate.
I wonder if this is the same bus driver who thinks its his job/right/responsibility to chew on young women in the middle of the night. (see ‘Tough Night?’ http://www.thecoast.ca/LovetheWayWeBitch/a…)
Maybe all the HRM bus drivers are really cops who couldn’t keep the job. It takes a certain kind of person to want authority over others… about the same kind of person who would abuse authority over others.
I’m going to refrain from commenting on this until all the details are clear. The story is quite sketchy as the Herald presents it.
That was my thought too, PDG: the story, as presented by the CH raises some eyebrows. The fact that their only source (the cop doesn’t count because he was just relaying what the anonymous source said) was anonymous gives me a bit of reasonable doubt that it happened like she said it happened and how the CH is portraying it as happening.
Oh course, being a member of a powerful union allows one to act like a total wanker without fear of reprimand or retribution…
