What else is new… another angry bus passenger. But seriously, what the hell is up with route #18? I am a student and this is the only bus route that will take me from home to school. During the past month, I have waited at the bus stop for as much as 50 minutes for a bus that is supposed to run every 1/2 hour. And this morning, after 45 minutes in the cold rain, I was not impressed. I understand that due to certain circumstances, delays occur, but it is becoming ridiculous! This route needs to become more consistent and run more frequently during peak hours. I just completed the online Metro Transit survey, so let’s just hope that changes are on their way.

  1. while it’s apparent by now everyone feels the same about Metro Transit, I wouldn’t hold my breath regardless of how many surveys you fill out.

  2. I took the 18 for 3 years while I went to university and I actually found that about… 97% of the time it was pretty much on schedule. Besides, I would rather wait an extra half an hour for the 18 than take the 80 any day!

  3. Believe it or not, OP it used to be much worse.

Perhaps you’re taking it during shitty times (like early morning rush hour), because I take it pretty much all times of the day and it’s usually ontime and early to the point where it has to park it’s ass outside willow park on windsor street for at least 5 minutes.

Although sometimes between 3-5pm it’s late getting to smu…but other than that…

Overall the 18 is pretty reliable, esp in comparison to 2005 when I started taking it and it was ALWAYS fucking late. Always.

  4. woo hoo!
now we get to spend even MORE money for their ‘service’.
    Just gets better and better.

  5. Oh for fuck sake.

Notice how MT’s site doesn’t have the fare increase posted? At least I didn’t see it when i was on there like 2 minutes ago.

The CH story said nothing about passes and tickets…but they’re probably going up too.

Honestly, this just encourages me to say “fuck it” and use my car. Yes, I know a car costs more than $2.25, but with other cities in NA DROPPING their fare rates, a fare increase is sickening.

Man, I remember when it cost 50 cents to ride the bus…and now I sound like my mother…

  6. Too true. We’re only 25 cents off of Montreal’s prices, and with half the service level. Still gonna take the bus, but it’ll certainly give me more reason to drive.
