Mkay, you know what I’M sick of?? You know what I’m REALLY SICK OF?? Not rogue bicyclists, or fat people, or kay’s rock star husband, or carrots, or the loud-ass motorcycles and fog horns that wake people up in the morning, or drunk people sucker punching other drunk people, or the one guy that accidentally bumps into that one chick who gets pissed because she’s too hot to be bumped into, or that the Metro sucks balls, or harbour smells like used tampons, or nihilists, or that snobby waitress that didn’t get enough tips, or beggars/vagrants, or that youmakemetouchyourhandsforstupidreasons, or irritating students on the south end, or that my coffee took too long to make, or people’s lack of salting the damn driveway, or EVEN that I can’t even get a decent puppet/marionette show in the oh-so-fucking-friendly city of Halifax.

No. I can deal with that. What really fucking makes my blood boil is that I like to check my news on the TV and New York times website daily for goings-on in the world, and every fucking day I have to digest the fact that a roadside bomb killed 200 plus people in Pakistan, or fifty more troops died in some obscure area outside Kabul, or Baghdad is seeing the most suicide bombings since this past March. I’m sick of it. I really am. I just want all of us to get along.

  1. I agree but its all propaganda. What better way to make the Americans hate the middle east than to tell them how horrible it is over there

  2. It’s ALL propaganda? So none of it is actually happening? Thank goodness now I can stop worrying about the state of the world. Thanks!

OP. Well said. The meaningless bitches are fun, but its the bigger issues that should really be the ones that make our blood boil.

  3. I was in the Middle East a few years ago and the only western TV programing I could flick to was Jerry Springer. Talk about propaganda! No wonder some of them believe the planet is better off without us.

I forgot about that lack of puppet scene in Halifax bitch – nice one.

  4. as long as there is a u.s.of a., no one in this world will get along. they have got to be the most war hungry country in this world.look at the history of the u.s., see they have started, or butted into more tribal, civil, and mid eastern battles than you can shake a stick at. it is the u.s. mentality that makes wars possible. they are a power mad nation, that thinks god(WHOEVER THE HELL THAT IS), gives them the right to dictate to the rest of the world. yes i agree with you on this bud, and personally think, if it does not directly involve us, then stay the fuck out of it. by going over there, we have now become a target for these bedbugs they call terrorists, and i say enough. bring our people the hell home, and let obama and who ever solve their own fucking problems. remember bush started to hunt for osama, not hussein. the countries are far apart, and one is not the other. the u.s. only wanted iraq for quick strike capibilities, in a war with russia or korea, or some other over there nation. it had fuck all to do with the towers, who people now believe was just a ploy to take iraq.opinion worldwide is at over 75 per cent, that everything that happened that day, was all engineered by the government of the then president.

  5. Having my boyfriend deployed to Afganistan, that is exactly why I stay as far away from the news as possible

  6. lol also having been in the middle east i can tell you it IS as horrible as they say lol. I couldnt believe that the Egyptian government allowed camels and donkeys to piss and shit all over the pyramids(i even found a donkey in some 20 foot ditch at the foot of the great pyramids that couldnt get out) its funny how people are so quick to blame ONLY the americans….when the middle east has been in some state of fighting for oh….1 or 2000 years. yeah whos the war mongers lol. In afghanistan its a custom for the newborn baby boy to be given a gift of a hand crafted rifle from his grandfather…so how many north americans can claim that dubious honour lol. take the blinders off…there is so much to hate about the middle east AND the western societies…and did you ever think, maybe the people you want to get along with…just dont fucking like us, or want to get along with us either?

  7. Lol propaganda eh? I guess it’s propaganda that a good portion of the region has been at odds for 100’s (probably 1000’s) of years prior to the existence of the USA. Get your collective heads out of your asses people. Although, the US causes a lot of shit, not EVERYTHING in the world is their fault.

  8. Hey cuja, the “middle east” (the term was coined by an American writer in the 19th century, for what it’s worth) has been at war for at least the past 200 years, mostly due to American and English involvement. I suggest you read a book entitled “Power, Faith and Fantasy” by Michael B. Oren. It’s a bit dry, but it chronicles US involvement in the middle east since the 1700’s. It’s a very good read. To the point of 2000 years of strife, that predominately due to the influence of the Catholic Church (Anyone remember the Crusades?) and the only conflict that I can think that Muslims (which is what everyone is driving at, as far as I’m concerned) started is when they occupied India.

  9. Wow, lots of people have versions of history that the good old Soviet Union would have been proud to espouse.

Dr. Fever, read some… The Crusades were started due to Muslim attacks on the Holy Land!!

As for other conflicts, the area they inhabited before AD 1000 wasn’t given to them by a relieved populace, it was taken by military force.

  10. Hahah fuck. Thanks for the memories of the puppet show bitch. Classic!

But yes, I also wish we all got along. 🙂

  11. Uh, Guyute, Jerusalem was the Muslim holy land long before Mecca.

Silly westerners blaming everything on the Muslims, Arabs, Persians or any other coloured group.

  12. Guyute, the Crusades were an effort of the Church to retake Jerusalem in the name of Christianity, they initially took control, only to lose it again to the Muslims, I think that’s where your confusion is. Actually, I refute a part of my earlier statement: The Ottoman Empire was a Muslim state that was quite active in terms of expansion and was also quite aggressive. However, they were really based out of Turkey (not technically part of the Middle East), and most of the major aggression was directed primarily at Russia… so…

Afghanistan is a lost cause. I really don’t understand why we’re there (beyond the obligatory NATO responsibility). There’s a reason why it’s called the Graveyard of Empires, as even the Mongols steered clear.

  13. Sigh, this is why I am regretting going to school for years to get a history degree. It doesn’t matter how much effort you put in to try and learn the proper story, people will still just make their own shit up. And yes, I’m talking to you Fever and Fat. I suppose its hopeless.

    But what the hell!
Fat: Jerusalem was a Muslim holy land before Mecca because it was originally a Christian/Jewish holy land, religions from which Islam originated.

Fever: If Turkey isn’t in the middle east I don’t know what is. Ottoman Empire was agressive against all major powers in the Mediterranian (Italy, Spain) as well as continental European states (Austria). Muslim religion expanded almost solely by military means, and various Empires within the Muslim faith have fought each other throught Islamic history. And they didn’t stop at India, Muslims expanded all the way into Southeast Asia.

As for the popular myth of Afghanistan being the graveyard of Empires, people should actually pick up a book on the history of Afghanistan, there aren’t many, but most are quite short. Afghanistan has been conquered and held many times, by many peoples, INCLUDING the Mongols, who left quite a strong impact on Afghan society, and most likely started an entire ethnic group (Hazara) inside Afghanistan.

But hey, what do I know. For all you numbnuts care I could have said the Catholic church gave Jesus rainbow underpants and he shat all over them, gave them to the Middle East, and thats why its so messed up there.

  14. Actually Turkey is in both Europe and Asia (as is Russia) with the Bosphorus Strait as the dividing line, which makes it also a part of the Middle East. So endeth the geography lesson.

Jerusalem is a very interesting city in regards to the three religions. King David made it his capitol city, thus the nickname “The City of David”, but was in existence for hundreds of years prior to this. This is where the Holy Temple or the Temple Of Solomon was built and was regarded as the most holy place for the Jews.

In the time of Jesus (also a Jewish rabbi, let’s not forget) this was the place of His death and resurrection according to Christians. Which makes it a very important in Christianity.

The Jewish people do not recognize this and the Muslims (who regard Jesus as one of their great prophets) believe he was crucified there but was never resurrected.

For the Muslims, they believe this was where Mohammad ascended into Heaven and is their third holiest city after Mecca and Medina.

This is a simplified version of the importance of the city to these three religions and why they fight for it.

  15. Turkey has never been considered a part of the Middle East. Socioeconomically speaking, they’re the gateway to Asia and the Middle East, both historically and in modern times. In fact, they hold membership with the EU to illustrate that fact.
The Ottomans indeed were aggressive and I do not denounce that fact; that why I felt it needed to be mentioned. However, I still stand by my original statement that most of the strife in that region over the past 200 years has been due to British and American influence. Especially the establishment of the Zionist Israeli state. But hell, what do I know, I don’t have a degree in history. It’s just a hobby. I’m sure that the hands of of the Christians are not covered in blood.

  16. BM69 – Thanks for the info on “Muslim religion expanded almost solely by military means”. I don’t hold any degrees but have always assumed it was trade that expanded the Muslim religion. Thanks for the history lesson.

  17. I too have a history degree, and just because it’s in a book doesn’t mean it’s true. A LOT of history (the “why did it happen”) part depends on what the historian thinks. There’s rarely an unbiased upper level/graduate text out there, sorry to say.

“Reasons” in history are almost always subjective based on how the historian sees the facts they read from primary documents.

  18. And even then there’s some bias.

We could both witness the exact same thing, BF and come up with VERY different conclusions/accounts of the story.

  19. Pretty Kitty…Is that why it’s sometimes seen written as “His-Story”
After all, we usually only get to read the ‘winners’ side to a battle or war. The king/governments version is the one that survives…& the facts from so long ago have often been lost !

  20. I agree, it absolutely disgusts me listening to all of these random acts of violence – suicide bombings for no apparent reason, helicopters being shot down… But I do hate this entire sentiment that ‘it’s all America’s fault’… it’s just not true. Violence has existed since the dawn of life itself.

  21. Careful, Dino. If kay started wearing Ugg boots, she’d somehow believe that all the existing Ugg-wearing gals (and males) are just trying to be like her. She’d probably write a Bitch about NS girls being jealous of her and copying her style, etc.

  22. You’ve got it all wrong Fat… She’d say that people who wear Uggs are the only people in the world who seek the “truth”(whatever the fuck that means… I’ve yet to figure that out) and are free thinkers, who fight this totalitarian system we normals toil under.

Kay, you must make a ton of enemies. Must be a great life.

  23. I’ll take quality over quantity any day.

The funny thing is, I could give a rat’s ass what you wear. I care about as much as I care about what you think of what I wear, which is to say I don’t…. generally speaking.

It’s one of the things I hate most about a lot of the women I’ve met here.. going on about that girl’s hair or that other girl’s skirt… what a waste of brain space. I think it’s a serious sign of insecurity to be all over “the Jones’.” I just couldn’t be bothered.
