I am so sick to death of the biased reporting that I see in the media—I am sicker still of the nasty vile attitudes that come out in the comments section—but what I’m really sick of, is trying to stand up for people, and be a voice of reason to those nasty vile commentators, and then experience this: while I sit and try my best to put these offenders in their place—you close the damn comments!
As soon as someone in this town stands up against racism—you shut it down.. you’ll leave that shit open for days and days sometimes, but as soon as someone has something to say that isn’t racist and mean—but positive—you shut us up! And people wonder why racism, and hatred of the poor in this province is such a problem? Well duh! You don’t just allow it – you encourage it! Evil! The only thing we’re allowed to say anymore publicly is support of whatever evil the government wants to spread, and their store-bought media is paid to publish! —Uneducated But Damn Well-Spoken White Chick Who Believes In Equality

  1. What I’ve noticed is, there are regulars on here who have nothing more going on for them than to sit on their computers (or their work computers) and trash every minority group Halifax has. Tis the internet “thing”…

Don’t get me started on *Morris Dancers*…

    Jeez.

    PisP

  3. “What I’ve noticed is, there are regulars on here who have nothing more going on for them than to sit on their computers (or their work computers) and trash every minority group Halifax has. Tis the internet “thing”…”

Not the Captain! He trashes the Majority Groups…

    DOWN WITH SINGLE WHITE MEN!

  4. I’m down with single white men, Keptin. Or did you mean to type “Down on single white men”, cuz I’m not really 100% on that

“Don’t get me started on Morris Dancers”
Oh cheese & rice do I ever hate those tinny voiced, extermimating motherfuckers.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHm2b_huTnM

Oh, did you say Morris Dancers, Paul? I thought you said Daleks.
    Back to work

  5. Yeah, I wouldn’t go down on single white men either, Ivanski.

But, I’m glad that some people do! >;D

  6. well what about those uppity lebanese, always stomping around in their micks work wearhouse flannel shirts, short haircuts, driving harleys and flirting with our wimmnfolk! ha! they should all be deported back to that island they came from. a young fellow i worked with once was moaning and complained about never getting a date because women preferred other women just ‘because the sex is better’.
was one of those hmmmmmmm moments

  7. GDM, you are my favourite large earthern berm used to hold back water and, By Godfrey, I luvs ya for it.
Still lol-ing at your description of “lebanese” >: )

  8. I can’t even read the comments in the horrid anymore…
For some reason they don’t show at the bottom.
I know they’re there somewhere because I see the trending ones on the sidebar.
I’m too lazy to spend any more time trying to find what is the equivalent of knee-jerk commentardism. Essentially, the equivalent to wanting to watch fox news.

On a side note, I oft’ find myself relating to the Captain as of late.
I’m not sure if that’s good for me… or bad for you.

  9. “commentardism” – Nice one

The Captain is fucking full-on crazy compared to what’s considered socially normal. If you’re agreeing with me, you’re probably not agreeing with the status quo. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing (at least that’s what I think. But, remember – fucking crazy)

I think you’re fine tho, zZz. Just keep on keepin’ on.

  10. THE VOICE OF REASON

“… but what I’m really sick of, (sic) is trying to stand up for people, (sic) and be a voice of reason to those nasty vile commentators, (sic) and then experience this: while I sit and try my best to put these offenders in their place – you close down comments.” Uneducated

Could you possibly provide examples? Or are you going to argue, proactively, that your comments were closed down and therefore it is impossible to provide examples?
On what grounds, then, is it possible for us to rationally assess your claim to be “a voice of reason” since you withhold the very thing in terms of which such rational assessment might proceed?

And do try to avoid misplaced commas.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  11. The OB has a nasty case of white guilt. All the nasty shit white people have done over the years has been either matched or surpassed by every other race so it’s about fucking time white people stop feeling guilty for being white.

blah blah blah hfx_godzilla is a racist. I hate everyone equally…including white people.

  12. If a tree falls in the woods and mr. poutine-gob isn’t around to hear it,
does he still come on here to write a stupid, rhetorical post?

  13. Godzilla – One of the main reasons I feel the Idle No More movement will fail. It’s fundamentally racist, plus I shouldn’t feel at all guilty for what happened in the past between White’s and Natives. There is no way I’m going to take responsibility for History and damn the one who makes me pay for it!

  14. I would also caution Ms. WellSpokenWhiteChick.
Depending on what circles you move in, taking a too literal definition of “equality” can get you branded a racist, P.D.Q.

  15. LOL at the word “equality.” If you truly believe in that, OB, then let me take a whip to your back while IvanNoMore tells you that your name is “Toby” and don’t get offended when the Royal Biscuited Butter Police come take your kids to the residence-hull-school. Oh and lets revoke your right to vote for 102 years or until Canada becomes a country for a second time.

Leave it to a random dumb cunt to think she’s eloquent while having a grade 8 education.

  16. I know the INM folks here in NS personally. Trust me; the shit isn’t going to stop any time soon. Plus I don’t see how INM is “fundamentally racist” and I’m the most fundamentally racist person here except for Bro Tim and Ivan when they go water-balloon-cruising for coloured people of obvious terrorist descent.

If it fails it’s because ol’ Biscuit isn’t the face and butter of the movement!

Now shut the fuck up while I host this blockade outside of a schizophrenic bar.

  17. Hay, Tim and me haven’t done that in years.

“schizophrenic bar” – a reference worthy of the late , great Gorilla Monsoon, my brother.^^

Besides,I wouldn’t call her Toby. I’d name her Djerkoff – the “d” is silent

  18. Heh heh heh “schizophrenic bar.” No wonder I became Executive Chief, er Chef. One of the two.

  19. Lets see then…

-Who are the parties involved? Aboriginals and non-natives. Okay so we’ve already divided things up into races.

-Natives have a Constituional right to live in Canada, whereas I/My family (which has been here for 250+ years) do not. Another division by race.

-This is an issue revolving around special rights and privileges for Natives. That’s separating them by their race.

I never said the movement was purposefully hateful, but the ignorance and arrogance on both sides of the issue has given it a racist tinge.

What I’m upset about, Biscuit, is the platform that I’ve witnessed from the Halifax Idle No More group. There’s more than a few issues that my generation is being saddled with (ie: Residential schools). If there’s going to be a change, then let our generation (both Natives and non-natives) take apart the old reserve systems and Indian act, and put together something that’s more mutually beneficial. No more blaming people and pointing fingers for things that happened in the past, that’s only going to perpetuate the problem. I want INM and the Canadian Government to work together while looking forward, instead of stagnating in this annoying standstill.

  20. Okay, maybe ‘Racist’ wasn’t the best word, but I can’t think of a better one. The movement in general isn’t about superiority, but there was definitely some elitism present at the ‘Teach-in’

Also, I’m not intending to insult anyone, and I’m not trolling for arguments. I feel this is an incredibly serious issue, but it is being treated inefficiently. There isn’t a racist bone in my body, I’m an individualist, so please don’t think of my opinions as hateful.

  21. You know what pisses me off? PC punks. I hang out with a lot of punks and love punk music. I’ve also hitch-hiked across canada with a gay guy. But don’t say anything remotely offensive around these holier than thou ass wipes or you’re in for a morally superior, arrogant tongue lashing. They want the punk scene to be ‘inclusive’ well guess what…it already is. You don’t need to get your panties in a twist every time someone makes a joke you don’t like.

Politically Correct Punk. THE IRONY. Fuck off.

I don’t “hate everyone equally” I treat everyone the way I would like to be treated and if they give me reason to dislike them, then I just quit hanging around them. Simple as that.

  22. I don’t know about the rest of you settlers, but this week I’m kinda wishing that my ancestors had stolen Hawaii.
    Aloha haoles.

  23. Idle No More isn’t actually divided but instead there are people who believe that there are only two sides to the issue: Injuns and Whitey. Honestly, it’s not the case.

About your experiences with INM in Halifax and at Dal, I’m curious if the Dal event was with the NDP MP from Toronto/somewhere in Ontario. Honestly I cannot comment on it as I was not there; nor have I attended or participated in any INM events to date. Why? Eh, I reserved cautions and ideas before some of the local events even began.

Idle No More isn’t even a Mi’kmaq or racial issue. It began in teh fall out west by four women First Nations. And it’s not about red vs. white but instead about the omnibus bill (C-45). Yeah, it sounds like I am being biased by that is what the genuine scope of the movement in essence. I think what is happening with your experiences (and partly why I don’t participate personally) is that it has become the “in-thang” to do (like most protests lately). A lot of people joined and brought their personal agendas with them, along with a mixture of messages that just leads to a major clusterfuck of (mis)information.

Now this intergenerational stuff: I’m a witness to it and partly a product. Not making excuses for my shit but I do see how problems like the residential school has fucked-up a LOT of people, even till this day. The last residential school closed in 1996 or 1999 only. For the people who say, “oh it happened long ago when I wasn’t here,” need to step back for a second and realize one thing: you’re taking it personally because you want to. Nobody is actually pointing the finger at you. Certainly there are a lot of First Nations out there who are racist, angry and hateful towards non-Natives for this. And as a red-skin, I really don’t blame them and I can’t. Then again, I’ve been told by white folks who’ve had friends get bitch slapped by a tonto: “No offence, but I can appreciate why people are so prejudiced against your people!” No shit. I’ve had that said to me for shit I had nothing to do with.

Back to the local INM organizers: they’re good people. I know them personally and professionally and their hearts are in the right spot. They are well-educated people to boot. While I am not exactly an active participant, I commend them on their initiative and drive. Now some of the people who are jumping on the band wagon (definitely not a pun) is a different issue. Some are brilliant and know their shit, others don’t have a fucking clue. Example, last week I was talking with a die-hard INM supporter. He/she called Harper the worst kind of dictator. To play a sebastian (aka Devil’s Advocate), I replied by asking, “Even worse than Stalin?” That person’s reply was, “I don’t know who that is … but Harper is by-far a lot worse!” I felt it was necessary to inform them that ol’ Josef was responsible for the death of more than 60-million of his own citizens.

At the same time, I will not say that a non-Native is racist simply because they don’t agree with INM or whatever the fuck. Nor do I think a honky is racist for saying, “Hey, Biscuit, you needz to pay taxes, burner of little-red-and-four-wheeled-items!” Shit, even Ivan knows I happily paid the 15% on my grape leaves and main course at the previous summit.

I wasn’t saying you’re hateful or anything like that but simply disagreed with a personal comment. And we handled it like gentlemen. If it were Suckers y’all would have to get into some ol’ gangsta shit … or Falkland shit.

  24. zZz are you using IE? If so that is why you can’t do anything on the Horrid site. They require Foxfire to do anything. It’s a recent change.

  25. When I go back to Poland, Biscuit, there’s going to be business opportunities galore. Wanna get in on the ground floor – Przemysl’s first donair shop . Seriously, it’s like the Wild Wild East out there.

  26. Kji Saqam-Ivan: I’m thinking of getting an INM t-shirt for the next summit and sporting some warrior face-paint and maybe a big ass Sitting Bull-type braid. You in-ski?

  27. Equality is not mentioning what race you are well-spoken white girl. As for the bitch, I need a few examples of what you are talking about specifically. I assume the comment section of the CH is the target.
I only read the Herald because I love to hate Jim Meek.

  28. Awesome!. That’s why I love this site. It’s so much more fulfilling than ranting on social media pages.

  29. True Story, Biscuit.

I appreciate your diplomacy regarding this issue, and I agree with a lot of what you said.

The local organizers? Yeah, they’ve certainly got their hearts in the right place, no doubts there.

The NDP rep you’re thinking of would be Megan Leslie. She sounded smart, but was purposefully misleading. She talked about the government writing a 400 page bill (C45, and C38) with the intention of making it too long to read, purposefully confusing, and an attempt to hide information… which is incredibly false. It’s a comprehensive federal document, and it sounded like she’d rather have a 10 page picture book that she could read to her kids before bed. Personally, when it comes to documents of this importance, I have more faith in their integrity the longer they are.

Unfortunately this is unfolding very much like the occupy movement (many people with different problems under one blanket banner). Which is why I feel that it’ll either fade away, or morph into something different. How many people who’ve heard of INM know that it’s about 4 ladies from the prairies and a couple of government bills? All they see is an incompetent Chief as a figurehead cursing Ottawa while holding out her empty cup.

I believe this issue requires a great amount of critical thought, which unfortunately I don’t believe is prevalent at the moment. Everyone should be critical of everything published or broadcast regarding these issues, as they effect everyone a lot more than they believe.

One thing that would be nice if you passed on to your INM friends… ‘Please stop telling me I have no right to live in Canada. You’d be speaking German and trading your wigwams for lederhosen if it weren’t for my, and many others, grandfathers. I, along with everyone I know, has a lot invested in this tiny little country, how about we share? Thank you.’

    Peace out, bitches

  30. “I don’t “hate everyone equally” I treat everyone the way I would like to be treated and if they give me reason to dislike them, then I just quit hanging around them. Simple as that.”

Good for you. Your bullshit moral high road is filled with the tears of every race that isn’t light skinned. To claim you aren’t racist is a massive lie. Everyone is racist to some degree. Just because you aren’t a card carrying KKK member doesn’t mean you aren’t a racist.

“A few examples of what you’re talking about”? That’s what I said back at 4:22PM. Glad you’re paying attention.

    (2) THE IDLE NO MORE QUESTION

Purported “racism” is only a distracting side issue in the Idle No More question. I’ve said elsewhere that the issue underlying Idle No More is that of Canada’s national sovereignty. The reason Margaret Spence demanded the presence of the Governor General – the Queen’s representative in Canada – in talks with Stephen Harper to end her hunger strike is that the Royal Proclamation of 1763 promulgated by the British Crown guaranteed aboriginal autonomy to keep them “onside” during the coming American War of Independence. Otherwise, they would have been assimilated as proved to be the case with the aboriginal tribes under American jurisdiction after their achievement of independence in 1783.

The result in Canada was constitutional confusion. There were status Indians and non-status Indians, there were conflicting interpretations of both their treaty rights and land claims. A look at the land claims both under the federal Indian Act of 1876 and various other claims under provincial jurisdiction shows that such claims extended nearly completely over the entire Canadian land mass. In effect, the Royal Proclamation created two sovereign powers in Canada, a situation which appears to resist any resolution by negotiation. In other words, either one or the other is sovereign but not both. A sovereign nation, whether aboriginal or Canadian, cannot negotiate its sovereignty away.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  32. Godzilla, thanks for sharing your opinion. I’m sure you’re blissfully unaware how full of shit you are, so I’ll just leave you with that.

You are not as well spoken as you think. You wanna make a difference then go make a difference you malcontent windbag. Nobody gives a shit about your internet presence. This is not a conspiracy against you. You’re not Asange, you’re some random person and nobody is waiting for you to show up.
