I’m considerably less than pleased with American Airlines. Yet again they’re bailing on Halifax altogether in January 2017. The last time they dropped YHZ is was for their Halifax-JFK flights (and briefly, Boston) a few years back. US Airways started YHZ-Philadelphia about 5 or 6 years ago, but last year, American bought US Airways and inherited that route. Now we find out that AA is dropping YHZ like a hot potato. Lame.
I, like other Maritimes have a few “AAdvantage” Miles, which I intended to use. Now it looks like I’m going to have to get my sorry bum to Bangor or Portland in order to use them.

If you haven’t noticed, many major airlines have left over the years and not come back. Others won’t come. I don’t think it’s the airlines but more it’s the airport. Why are they leaving? Even Icelandair has left – a less than major airline but an important access point to Europe. Now you have to fly backwards to Toronto or Montréal to fly overseas. Something is wrong at YHZ and it’s not an airline.
Awww – did they wreck your ukelele and put your SGR show biz career on hold.?
X-tra large double-double , pls.
Start flapping your arms like a hummingbird.
So you want an airline to continue to fly planes that aren’t carrying enough passengers to sustain the route. Who is going to pay for it?
And more importantly, who want to go to crime ridden Philadelphia?
it’s not about going to Philly, it’s only connecting there to all over the world. American is the worlds largest airline and from Philly one can fly anywhere in the US, Caribbean & Europe
A spade is a spade, and unsustainable is unsustainable.
OP, I do not expect a person with a left leaning view of economics to understand. You should not spend another moment thinking about it.
Maybe this province isn’t the great awesome thing that it thinks it is? Hell, even Halifax, the cultural and financial centre of the Atlantic has a shopping district of fine clothes encompassing, um, a block? A building of a block?
Get over yourself, Nova Scotia.
spas. I believe that JFK and Newark both have more planes going to more places than Philly.
