    In any event, I’m not a fan of that song. Tiesto *is* kraft dinner, sure, but he CAN do better than that. It’s like the music is just… disconnected from the lyrics/lyrical melody. :-/

  8. HA. Tone deaf. I’d say my 20 years of classical music training and 25 years playing, including extensive ear training and a natural ability to pick the most minute details of any song up passed down from my father (a gifted musician), says you’re WRONG.

    Try listening to tiesto’s earlier stuff. The stuff he’s pumping out lately is kinda lame. There are a few gems in there, but this track wasn’t one of them (the lyrics and the music on their own is great – but together it just sounded mismatched). But Suburban Train, In My Memory, even JT’s Lovestoned remix… blow this shit out of the water.

    And there are MUCH MUCH better trance djs out there. Though, I will give him props for staying true to trance and not swaying into prog, which is the “in thing” right now (think house with trancey elements). I LOVE prog, but it’s nice to see some trance DJs staying true to their roots.

  9. tiesto is one of the best dj’s in the world. i am just looking forward to being able to say i actually saw him live! i think that’s a pretty cool opportunity. plus there are not a lot of dj’s that travel to the maritimes, but meh.
    he is total eye candy as well, so i wont mind looking at him all night hehe

  11. Actually, smurf, Halifax is known as a huge fanbase of electronic music. We’ve had some big names here, and have a pretty decent scene going on.

    Tiesto’s popular. He’s not the best by any means. There are some wonderful DJs out there that blow tiesto out of the water, but they’re less known so they don’t have the hype. Tiesto is kind of cheap and really is kraft dinner. That’s not to say i don’t enjoy his stuff — I do — but I take it for what it is: commercialized trance with some questionable quality. I find it can really be hit or miss with him.

    Not to say that I don’t really want to go, and not to say that the atmosphere wouldn’t be awesome++, but I do think tiesto’s way over hyped.

    that is a frigging MASHUP, yet still sounds better than some of the music tiesto puts together to go with lyrical melodies. Kaskade just managed to put these two tracks together and mesh them perfectly. Especially the crescendos with the chorus and the decrescendos in the bridge. Sounds better than Haley’s original.

  21. Maybe I do, but overall i just don’t see the hype. I don’t dislike tiesto, I just don’t think he’s all that in comparison to other artists. Same with armin van buuren. I appreciate his work, and I like quite a lot of it, but I think someone like Chicane is much better (and actually, armin mentioned in state of trance 405 he’s one of his biggest inspirations in lyric trance).

    Also, have you SEEN how hot kaskade is? Who WOULDN’T love his work with a face like that? haha

    No seriously, I get the “to each their own” part – I just like defending my opinions, that’s all 🙂 And I’m kinda really passionate about music too.

  30. Hay, concert was free and so were the plane tickets 😉 We had front row seats. At one point I was less than 10 feet away from the love of my life (Donnie Wahlberg mmm).

    The concert was in 1998, RC. It was their very first date of their reunion tour. They’re playing with BSB in TO a WEEK before I’m there for my cousin’s wedding. She changed her date and if she hadn’t we could’ve gone together again 🙁 She even had a friend with great seats who wanted to sell them. Boooo!

  34. For me, I just have to find something that keeps my attention. I have the attention span of a flea (less than, really), so unless it has a melody that really grabs me, I find it boring and move on. HOWEVER, I like things in different situations. For instance, my gym play list is a lot different than what I might listen to on the bus, for example, and what I listen to in the morning on the bus changes depending on what mood I’m in.

    I’m like you, RC, I have a bit of absolutely everything on my ipod. But I don’t share my ipod library with anyone — I’ve always been quite private with my music tastes. Even when I was a kid. I prefer earphones to stereo systems. Always have. Probably because my parents are musicians and my dad is an engineer/producer and always criticizes the HELL out of everything he hears.

  88. Chicane, by far, is my favorite DJ ever 🙂 His “saltwater” track is a classic trance track. CLASSIC. He wasn’t so into the lyric trance back in the early days, but has moved in that direction as of late. Oh and look up “stoned in love” — Tom Jones is in it — they actually made his voice go up a few octaves in production and it doesn’t even sound like him.

  89. EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Blizzard Beach (amazing). Then did Universal and Islands. I lost 8 pounds in 4 days from just walking around! and I was eating terribly (it being vacation and all + 3 younger cousins who eat junk didn’t help).

    Although, I reallllly enjoy Canada’s Wonderland. Everything is so close.

  99. OMG rode Behemoth last yr. I have to say I was less scared of that one than the wooden rollercoaster ‘Mighty Canadian Minebuster’. There’s one little bar on the wooden one and it’s so screeky and bumpy. I thought my ovaries had climbed up to my neck after it! Behemoth was smooth and enjoyable. Also, I sat at the very front on ‘The Hulk’ at Islands and it gave me a blackout head ache. I loved it then got off the platform and actually had to sit on the stairs cause I couldn’t see anything. I felt like my brain was a slurry. The staff were like … “uh u ok?” Lol good times.

    You know what else was scary ‘Time Warp’ @ CW. It’s one of only 4 Zamperla Volares in the world , but boy if you have any kind of chest, refrain.

    despite my wariness of the stationary rides.

    I draw the line at shockwave… I honestly do not believe I would be able to handle that.

  105. Yeah, as much as I like thrills, things that go around in circles are not for me (unless I’ve taken Gravol). I’ve yet to lurch on a ride but it calms my nerves fo some reason.

    I wanna do the pendulum swing!

    Cedar Point is also on the list of places to go. One day one day. I wonder how far away it would be over the Rainbow Bridge … ’cause I loves me some Niagara.

  116. *sigh* I know, I know 🙁 Universal donor… but can only take O neg. And O neg is one of the rarest types. It makes me really sad that I can’t donate blood 🙁 I seem to have inherited all the crappy genetic traits from both of my parents. I have all my dad’s bad traits, but not his AB neg blood type. I have all my mom’s bad traits, including her O neg blood. Yipee! Yay to losing the genetic lottery?:

  120. HA. That reminds me of last night’s ‘activities’ ‘tween mah kittehs. One was on one side of my closed bedroom door, the other was on the other side of the door and since they hate each other (despite being biological bro and sis), they were fighting with each other from under the door. One’d put their paw in and the other would grab it and vice verse. There was hissing, and growling and lunging at that damn door.

    Didn’t get to sleep until 1:30am ffs. *angryface*
