How dare any of you try and embarras someone online. making fun of person with obvious issues is just plan not cool and not nice and could cause alot of heartache and distress. emailing and texting a person all day and night to make them feel bad or dissappear isn’t right and theirs laws to protect some one against the bullying and harasment. maybe alot of you need to look in the mirrors and start telling the whole truth instead of pretending to be perfect. grow up the whole lot of you and leave people alone. everyone can be so nice face to face but go online an computer and their mean two faced jerks out to hurt and cause pain. i know whos behind it, we all do! —done with this kids

  1. It’s like a Boru and an LS had a high speed collision of stupidity.

  2. Should this be on a high school website?

Can one of you tell me who the current anti-bullying legislation covers? Is it just students or does it cover ‘adult bullying’ as well? If that’s the case, every third senior in HRM will be reporting one of their no-good kids. Since retiring a short time ago, I haven’t been keeping up with the news except in regard to the possibility of an upcoming election. Anyone care to place any bets on this one?

Rivers of Orange Crush flowing like hot lava… oops, sorry about that – just had a vision.

  3. All of us? I don’t think so. Didn’t we have this bitch already?
I forgot to mention, the hippo is indigenous to Africa only.

  4. The internet without making fun of people.. isn’t the internet. The trick is not letting a bunch of anonymous strangers get to you.

  5. TTFN, lmao–you totally made me think of that old Cherry Blossom commercial…”Cherreeeeee, cherry blossom, with the thick chocolate on the outside, mmmm mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm, and it’s creameeeeeee on the inside, mmmmmm mmmmmm mmmmmm mmmmmm….” I still love that flowing creamy goo (lol) and the thick chocolate too…….and, of course, orange crush ;P

  6. Right now I’m guilty of semi harassing someone somewhere else on the internet (staying with the subject when I comment on the situation). I stopped. No name calling or swearing occured. It was all situations being illustrated in different perspectives by me to make this person aware of the severity of what they had done (what happened to motivate this was major).

I stopped a few weeks ago, and commented about 7 times in total before that. Technically it’s harassment but many wouldn’t have considered it harassment, given how everything was written, and for what papers this person had published, combined with the severity of what he had done.

Boru and I went back and forth briefly but that was more a communications clash that got settled, then neither of us addressed each other much. I also helped her side out many times.

  7. “OBVIOUS ISSUES”

“everyone can be so nice face to face (sic) but go online an (sic) computer and their (sic) mean two faced (sic) jerks, out to hurt and cause pain.” done with this kids

I don’t want to harass you but it looks like you have some “obvious issues” yourself, spelling and punctuation obviously being two. Another is calling some people “two-faced jerks.” Isn’t that harassment?

In fact, how does one write a bitch without harassing someone? Isn’t that the whole point of this site? Isn’t it contained in what it means to be a “bitch?” In other words, aren’t you harassing those who are harassing others who, no doubt, are harassing still others?

The question, of course, is where does legitimately criticizing someone end and harassing them begin? If harassment, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder, does everything count as harassment if the one being harassed thinks it does? Or are there objective criteria to distinguish harassment from such legitimate criticism? Could you point out what they might be?

Write back soon with your thoughts.

  8. We soon won’t be able to say a word about anything, to anyone, for any reason for fear we will be both persecuted and (now) prosecuted for our thoughts and feelings. This is getting stupid…

  9. Herr Dexters speech to the Party Faithful, prior to launch of his Socialist Blitzkreig….

“Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know what no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”

Right, Orwell’s “1984.” But haven’t you forgotten something? You must show, demonstrate, substantiate or otherwise give grounds to equate Big Brother’s “The object of power is power” on the one hand with “Herr” Dexter’s NDP intentions on the other. You do understand that, don’t you?

Otherwise you know what you have done, don’t you? You have publicly humiliated Dexter and brought his name into ridicule and disrepute. You have knowingly and wantonly besmirched his good name. You have harassed him.

Does Dexter have grounds to bring a suit of malicious libel, of defamation of character, against you? I believe he does. I hope he will. I will gladly serve as his legal counsel. You will be in receipt of my lawyer’s letter in due course.

    A pleasure as always.

    No hard feelings Daniel.

A persons persona on the internet may not reflect who they are in person. It would be more insulting and hurtful when people attack a persons personal life than their persona..Having said that, according to the new law, can a person or group who is/are bullying or harassing a persona on the internet be taken to court?

  12. Yes, Boru. We’re all going to jail for what we said to you. Then you can sue us all for damages, which you won’t be able to collect cause we’ll all be in jail.

  13. Steve

    **CORRECTION **
    Generally speaking,
“A persons persona on the internet may not reflect who they are in person. It would be more insulting and hurtful when people attack a persons personal life than their persona..Having said that, according to the new law, can a person or group who is/are bullying or harassing a persona on the internet be taken to court?

I was NOT talking about myself,Numbrod.

  14. You’re always talking about yourself, even when you’re “not talking about yourself”.

That said, that comment was 100% SARCASM, idiot.

  15. Dear OB …thisis a bitch site …what exactly are you expecting here …hugs & kisses ?
    Piss off ~;p

  16. Expect hatred, anger and a flame war…
    internet speak or not.
    everything burns.

    EVERYTHING.

  17. The law works this way:

    BLOCK AND DISABLE.

YOU have the power to stop people from harassing you. Block them. Change your number. Change your email.

It’s very simple. I had to do this with an ex boyfriend that was using extortion to bully me. I am NOT a victim. So i took a proactive stance and made it impossible for him to contact me. Problem? Solved.

    Be proactive. Don’t whine.

If someone harasses you despite these tactics, then you have a case. But 9 times out of 10, people wait around to see what the person will do next. Don’t do that. It’s very, VERY simple.

Any legal advisor will ensure you do this before they will take any action. Unless your LIFE is in danger. The first thing they will ask is if you have taken every measure to avoid your tormenter. If you haven’t? Well come on.. That’s YOUR responsibility. YOu can’t stop people from disliking you, if that’s what your asking. Nobody is legally obligated to like you. If you don’t like them, AVOID THEM.

Really, do i have to spell this out?

  18. Once the complaint is made and aknowledged by the police it’s 3 same level strikes (subjective area I know but you can still be prosecuted regardless) and you can be charged with criminal harassment. Unfortunately the severity of what the person did to you doesn’t even matter; the cops will just tell you that you should have let it go.

  19. Yeah the police won’t do much if you keep baiting them or hovering around them to make sure they’re not talking about you when you leave.

If this has progressed to a point where you are trying to avoid them but can’t and it is disrupting your daily life, then yes. The law may need to get involved.

But if you are not doing anything to avoid these people and instead making sure you’re right in the thick of it, you’re a troublemaker and the law will tell you to take measures to avoid your tormenters before they’ll get involved.

Trust me, after being stalked by my ex, i know how this works. I am telling you how the law operates, whether any of you like it or not.

And fair enough. If someone threatens your life, that’s different. If they’re showing up outside your house at all hours with torches, that’s different. But if they’re teasing you, you really need to grow up and get over yourself. Avoid them and let them hate you. There is no law that requires someone to like you. Stop hanging around trying to get the last word unless you want this to continue.
