To the asshole who’s stupid Nissan SUV was parked illegally behind my apartment building with a broken alarm going off continuously for over 2 hours:

You’re absolutely brain dead and inconsiderate, and you’re lucky you drove away before someone smashed your car to pieces. Even more of a piss off, though, were the officials we called to report the noise complaint to… My boyfriend called twice over the two hours the alarm was going off and the female dispatcher told him that someone would contact him and let him know the alarm was off, and requested he call back with a number to reach him at. When he did this a male answered, asked if he had been drinking, and said he had already been told the cops can’t do anything and to stop calling.

So here I am at 4:22 am more sour at the cops then the driver of the stupid car with the stupid alarm. The fact that they attempted to shift the blame and act like we were harassing them really cements my confidence in our police force. —Angry sleep deprived couple

  1. Really what CAN the cops do with that? They cant damage someones property just to shut it up. I know this situation is frustrating beyond belief. Issue a ticket for noise violation to the owner I guess?

I had a cars horn short circuit in front of my apartment building at 2 am for about 20 mins till the owner managed to disconnect the battery to shut it up, it sucked.

  2. that or you could go arnold from Twins and lift up the front end above 45 degrees.
That’s supposed to shut them off…. it works in the movies anyways.

and really, if Trevor and Corey can break into and disable alarms so quickly, how hard can it really be?

  3. without knowing the full details of “parked illegally” it hard to say that could have been done. If it was private property the property owner or super ( not the tenant ) would have to call a tow truck, unless of course the SUV was in that particular tents spot that he/she pays for.

And on public space unless its in a posted tow away zones such as a fire lane for example, the police cant really do more than issue a ticket unless the car has been there a while and considered “abandoned” and would then be seized.

Either way, I think people just rely on the police as a catch all for their annoyances. They dont has as much discretion to deal with this type of situation as people sometimes think.

  4. another good reason why people here could benefit from posting their phone number on the dash of their car.

  5. smash the window, pop the hood, disconnect the battery and leave a note explaining the situation for when the owner of the vehicle likely calls the cops for B @ E

  6. you should have driven a rock or brick thru the windshield, to give siren a meaning for going off so long.

  7. I always say, when an alarm is going off on a car in the middle of the night, someone BETTER be breaking into it. If not, someone SHOULD break in to it to justify that awful noise. Nothing is more frustrating. I’d heavily consider bricking it myself.
