What’s wrong with the “professionals” in this region? I research the company, apply for a job I qualify well for, etc. Several email and phone calls later I’m invited for a 90 fucking minute interview then never hear from anybody again. Never a “thank you,” a “fuck you,” nothing!

This wouldn’t be a “valid” bitch unless this happened on more than one occasion. Let’s just say it’s happened often enough for me to assume the whole lot of “professionals” in this town don’t have a fucking clue.

In the land where I come from, when a professional is interviewed for a job, they are treated with respect whether they’re successful through the interview process or not. A simple note like, “you were not successful but we’ll keep your resume on file… blah blah blah” is better than the big blow off… it’s also more appropriate in a professional community. Too bad the HRM doesn’t have one.

  1. That sucks – it it specifically one sector to which you were applying, or is it an across the board thing? I found previously that some larger companies can take a really long time getting back with their decision. Weird, though, for it to be happening a bunch of times.

  2. UA.. Am I missing something here? Why not follow up with them yourself ??? I almost cant believe a true professional would fail to follow up on an opportunity like this…. and then go on to blame the REGION ??? As I am thinking about what you are saying, its sounds all the more ridiculous… I can see your prosective partners looking at your name on a list and wondering why YOU never called THEM back to say thanks… “Oh well, he must not have been very interested in working with us…” Lets hire this other guy then…ANY opportunity you had to continue to build the relationship should be have yours for the taking…unless you are some kind of prima donna that says everyone must come to you….

  3. Did you do your post-interview follow up? That is, did you send them an e-mail thanking them for their time interviewing you and letting them know that if they require anything additional that they should feel free to contact you? If you are interviewing for a higher level job, and it sounds like you are, then you have to do your part to follow up as well. And if you do not hear from them within 10 to 14 days, give them a call. All of this follow up shows them that you are keen and interested in the job. Failure to do so makes you look bad. Good luck tho…

  4. I want to know what he profession is… if dude’s a lawyer or accountant or some other profession, this is weird. If he’s looking to work in a bank, or some random office doing random office duties, maybe not so much.

  5. lol @ floyd”and then go on to blame the REGION ??? “as i read this, i pondered how the fuck this could be a maritime thing. This is as ridulous as buying a toaster and it burning your toast, then saying “fucking maritimes toasters”

  6. ya qwerty, I would also like to know what profession he/she is… I would usually take someone who refers to themselves in this context, to mean they’re in the doctor/lawyer crowd, but I here guess they could be a professional carpet cleaner/ hooker/ musician… whatever you get paid for is your profession…

  7. Actually, not every career is technically a profession. People like doctors, lawyers, engineers — they are technically professionals. Many others are not. In this case, I think it is highly unlikely that the job in question is for someone of “professional” stature. And really, if you post a Bitch on the Coast website on the topic, this increases the likelihood of the OP not being a technical professional. And if they did not take the proper steps to follow up, then again, this proves that the OP is not a technical professional… nor do they exhibit professional behaviour….

  8. La Dee da, I fully agree with everything you said, except; “And really, if you post a Bitch on the Coast website on the topic, this increases the likelihood of the OP not being a technical professional”WTF? Why would an engineer be less likely to post/read here than a doctor or lawyer? I would actually think it’d be more likely, just because there are more nerds than Docs and lawyers.

  9. By that I meant they would have been given proper training in whatever institution they were educated in and would therefore understand the proper hiring process enough to not be in this situation and would therefore not be needing to post on this website. In no way did I say they were less likely to post or read here, they just would not be posting this type of a bitch. If this shit were going on in one of those professions, they have an entire network that they could turn to and wouldn’t need this random rant.

  10. I Agree with this bitch. If some one says they’ll call you before a certain time, do it. What kind of douche-bag company can’t keep their word on something like this. Fuck the Maritime ‘head hunters’, they are mickey mouse operations for the most part. I now find out who the company is the ‘head hunters’ are representing and if I do not get a call by the time the ‘head hunters’ say I just call the company doing the actual hiring. Only once the company actual looking for work said anything negative.
