To all of the people who travel the floors of the Scotia Square Food Court, I can’t help but become overwhelmingly surprised each day of work in this building. How is it that you’re in such a BIG hurry to get to your McDonald’s line that you have no problem cutting off a construction worker carrying a 6′, 8′, 10′ or even a 12′ ladder??? Where is the common sense? How can more than 80 percent of the people that pass through this mall NOT have any common courtesy? To those who actually still have manners, THANK YOU! To the rest, think twice before you judge my generation for our actions!! —Fed up construction worker

  1. cry me a river.

you are being paid by the hour to work safely, and these people are trying to get through their limited break time.

If you don’t like it, get another job.

  2. now here’s a guy who knows the difference between plural and possessive. I am sure you are bringing in more money as a construction worker than an editor, but I beseech you. please go work at huff post.

  3. Apparently you are trying to get somewhere and it’s important enough that you do it during the busiest time of the day when a lot of people are in a hurry because they only get 30 minutes for lunch. But you really need to get that ladder someplace important at that exact moment. What’s the difference between you and them? It’s like construction workers who cry if someone mentions maybe they should work backshifts, but instead have to tear up a road every day during rush hour.

  4. KFC in Scotia Square closed, Haz! The overly enthusiastic guy who worked there is now gainfully employed at Tim Hortons. He’s quite a cheery fellow, I must say.

  5. ACTUALLY, dwight, you’re right. The food court is usually pretty dead – it’s busy during lunch time (starts to get busy around 11:30/11:45am and quiets down around 2). I was having lunch with a friend at noon down there a few weeks ago and for some reason, construction crews thought it pertinent to jack hammer at that particular moment. It went on for about 20 minutes and I couldn’t even hear my friend and vice versa and we were both yelling.

I went to the building management office by the washrooms and requested they ask them to stop over lunch hour because people are paying money to sit in that food court. The guy in the office I spoke to was very pleasant and said he completely understood.

    Hasn’t been a problem since.

I know you folks have to work, OB, but there are definite times where the food court is much less crowded and perhaps you can tailor your schedules to accommodate heavy traffic flow.

  6. corporate name uses apostrophe in it, but he used it as possessive, since the line ‘belongs’ to macdonald’s. so imo opinion, correct.

i was referring, though, to the absence of apostrophes in floors, manners and actions.

  7. Scotia square food court can burn in hell since Ray left. Ideally they should raze the entire mall.
