A few years ago there was a PSST referencing a lady who rode the ferry and read crime/suspense novels and wore, if I remember correctly, a red sweater or coat that the poster referred to as rose colored. I’ve always wondered if that was for me since I rode the ferry quite frequently at that time. At the time I dismissed it offhand as not possibly about me, but I’ve thought about it a few times over the past two years. Just want you to know if it was for me thank you. And no, I was not taken at the time, nor am I now. Thanks for making a girl feel better. —Red Sweater Ferry Lady

  1. No, it wasn’t about you OL.

Pine. That would be my wood of choice. It’s soft and pliable enough to carve some interesting shapes.

  2. My friend and I used pine to make the receptacles for my grandmother’s ashes, as well as my father’s ashes–pine IS really lovely to work with, and creating stuff, whether decorative or utilitarian, is really fun….I would advise anyone on the merits of working with their hands to make things….art is perspective.

  3. what about fir? can you carve fir? i mean, doesn’t it just slither around and refuse to take the shape? i know i have seen people wearing fir coats, but no idea how they managed to whittle THAT sort of thing.
    just dumbfounds me, it does.
