Ok, first of all I know that there have been 1000 bitches on here before about smokers and their throwing their butts on the ground. I happen to be a non-smoker completely against it but I’m really trying to mellow out about it as I really can’t do anything about it or see it stopping. Litter does blow though, of any type, it’s really sad that people have no respect for the environment we all have to live in… Anyhow, I’m not looking to start that debate up again, but this morning I saw something that just astounded me and I just have to bitch about it… and hope that someone in the police force actually reads this. At 8:20 this morning, August 20th on North Park St, a brunette female officer driving car number 60 was smoking… which I had never, ever seen an on-duty officer do before, then she tossed her butt out the window! I know what some of you will say, get a life, stuff like that. But really, there are litter laws in HRM, which would be enforced (if there was actually any enforcement)by police officers, now tell me how that officer would treat a litter complaint? Needless to say she’d probably toss it on the ground. Ok, I’m done, and I know I’m going to get flamed by a lot of people, but really, that just didn’t seem right to me and I just had to bitch about it, which is why this forum exists I suppose.

A bigger concern: we are in the midst of a heatwave, and she threw a potential fire starter out the window.
Thats funny, because a friend of mine, got pulled over for throwing a cigarette butt out the window. She was the passenger of the vehicle, and not only did SHE get a fine for littering, the officer also fined her boyfriend who was driving.
I wouldve called the station right away and made a complaint, because this same cop, is going to fine someone else for doing the same thing and its irritating.
I’ve also noticed that cops never use their turn signals. Who polices the police? I know its not a big deal, but if it wasnt such a big fucking deal, how come we have to, but they dont?
Learn to stand up for yourself. Don’t resort to hiding behind the Bitch board, pick up your little phone, dial either 411 and ask for the number for HRP non-emergency / look up the number and call them, say you want to speak with a supervisor about a potential complaint and then explain your story. Expecting them to read this board is useless, because for them to act on something (so minor – but thats not the point) based on a brief article on an online forum is senseless – they wont. But when you call, file a complaint, get a case number etc. then in the very leaset, if its not followed up on, I am cerain they have internal auditing procedures in place that will indicate so and the proper people will be informed. God people are helpless.
They also drive while talking on their cellphone. I guess if you don’t want the rules and laws to apply to you, become a cop.
We’ve also seen them on multiple occasions: jaywalk, use sirens to go through red lights and speed through the downtown without their lights.
Cops figure they’re a step above the rest of humanity so ordinary rules should not apply to them. Call it a power trip or whatever but I have yet to meet a cop that didn’t have an air of superiority over us regular joes.
The bigger question is whether or not she was smoking hot?? Gotta love a woman with her own set of hand-cuffs!!
I would like to be certain that they have rules against smoking on HRP / HRM property. Be it in the HRM owned police vehicle or in the police station – same thing. But if they come down on cops smoking in cars, they have to come down on the Water commission guy smoking in his service truck, road repair crews smoking on a road work site etc…. but I do believe that police have to be held to a higher standard… if for nothing else but for the sake they are seen as “role models” (debate for another time) for children or people trying to get their life on track.
Hi, I actually posted this bitch, more as a feeler to see if other people thought there was a problem with what I saw then anything else. I’m used to being a a bit anal and letting some things get under my skin a bit more than they should, but that really just blew my mind. I wasn’t trying to use this as a venue to lodge a real complaint though, as a way to hide as one comment said, although I can see why there might be some confusion with the way I worded things. I really think that I will call the HPD and put a little bug in their ear. I’m glad to see that others find this a bit unacceptable as well.

While we’re on the subject of police behaviour; why do police find it necessary to blare their sirens at 4am when there is little or no traffic on the roads? I can see them giving a short blip at intersections, but to blare from start to finish? Maybe they just want to awake every person in the neighborhood and make them aware that they are going to the scene of an incident . Maybe they just want to make people at the “scene” of the incident aware they are approaching. Maybe both. But really — at 4 am?
Maybe because people bitch when they don’t use them.

You put a uniform on a fucked up human to start with then give him some power. Go ahead and put in a complaint. Have it investigated by his buddy’s in the force. Outcome… LOL
