It’s times like these that I’m really glad I’m moving to another country. It’s the straw that broke this camel’s back: Nova Scotia MLAs spending my money on meaningless shit that could have gone to much more important things (and that’s something everyone can agree on). Every opinion I’ve had of the government in Canada is confirmed with reports like these.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not only that. The list is long: prorogation in a crucial time, a war that shouldn’t have even started (because wars rarely ever end), abysmal voter turnout for elections, a complete disregard for proper management of natural resources…I could go on all night.

I’ve lived in Nova Scotia my entire life, and now I’m getting out while the gettin’s good. I feel like I’m 18 again, but really I’m 25. So instead of becoming yet another apathetic Canadian, I choose to take my business elsewhere. I’ll always love this place, and I’ll always consider myself as Canadian, but some people tend to ruin it for the rest of us.

  1. ok, we didn’t start the war… let’s scratch that one off at least.

can’t really deny the rest though… we’re bad mother puckers.

    where ya movin to?

  2. LULZ. Tell me when you find this magical country. Oh and redo your research if you’re planning on the UK or Australia.

  3. When you move to Australia (which is pretty much where all of the early to mid 20’s set seems to want to move lately) try writing this exact same bitch when they’re monitoring your web traffic.

  4. You know BC is still part of Canada, right?

You know, a lot of this ‘expense scandal’ is a storm in a tea cup if you ask me, not all…but a lot. An MLA, that is expected to travel around the province quite a bit bought a GPS? *Gasp*!

A member of the gov’t bought 4-5 computers for an office of, well, 4-5 people? Oh my! Hang the bums!

Even the stupid generators see like much ado about nothing…back up power, so what. The guy that stuck it in his own home, was OTT, sure…but the item itself is not that self-indulgent…in fact an argument could be made for every MLA to have one. And the TV’s for the offices? So what, they all got ’em except Estabrooks; he’s still watching the Bruins lose on his Panavision console…

This crap is a distraction from the real issues…

Why not follow the REAL money and not these nickels and dimes…?
Land deals, kick backs, ear marks, insider info and trading…that’s where the money is…

Hey people of NS, watch the hand go quicker than the eye…
    Quick, where’s the Queen?!

WTF did I read today that NO money is headed towards helping the struggling Wind farm project….NO money for a start-up IT/server in metro….but, surprise, surprise, a cool quarter Mil of a company that makes….VLT’s, the scourge of NS.

    Who’s behind this?

Oh, who cares, some-one bought a Wii for staff parties!!!

  5. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, and please don’t continue to think of yourself as a Canadian. Your rant makes no sense. You are choosing not to become another apathetic Canadian, so you are leaving Canada altogether!! Bravo.

Where is this ideal country you are moving to? I’m wondering if you even know, because you didn’t even tell us the name of the country. There must not be any human beings in this country, because anywhere I’ve ever been that has human beings has many of these problems you have described.

    Bye bye douchebag!

  6. It’s not a Canadian thing, it’s a human thing. British Parliament is going through its own spending scandal, it’s not like Canada’s got a unique reputation. So go far away (seriously, get out) but things won’t magically change for you.

  7. I’ve found Brits to be the biggest whiners when it comes to their own country (and, well, everything). Bloody whinging Poms! It seems like everyone in Britain thinks it’s the worst place on the planet to live and can’t wait to get out of there.

Aussies, on the other hand, tend to think their country is the greatest on the planet, and while they understand why so many people do want to live there (because they “reckon it’s the best bloody country in the world, mate!”), they’re tired of “all these bloody migrants” coming into their country and “ruining [their] Austrayan way of life.” They’re a bit behind down there in terms of their attitudes/opinions and technology. They still have Internet download limits for Crikey’s sake! Also, you gotta watch out for Wogs doing burnouts at Maccas on a Friday night.
