To one of the 30 or so people who were at the Alehouse late last night, who rooted through the pockets of my coat until they found my ipod.
It was my birthday no less. Get fucked.

So you go to the alehouse, pay cover to get in, proceed to blow 40 bucks on pitchers, but couldn’t come up with 75 cents for the coat check?Bet you’ll be carrying extra change when you go out now!
Hey Jim Harvey – why are you being such an a$$hole? How do you know Tunless was drinking, much less how much money she spent? For the record, the Alehouse doesn’t have a coat check…
I just hope karma smacks that thief senseless. I just bought my kid an iPod and am positively paranoid about making sure it’s well concealed.
Oh, and Jim Harvey, stop being a fucking cunt.
Then I wonder who I was paying to take my coat and put it on a big rack with a bunch of other coats? I’d definitely call that a coat check. Maybe it wasn’t open as it was a slow night.Regardless, why you would bring your ipod to a bar full of drunk people and try to save a buck is beyond me. If you couldn’t check it, why’d you let it out of your sight? If you couldn’t be burdened with carrying it with you and you left it stuck in some dark corner then you should have known better. Next time they’ll be more careful. Lesson learned.
Jim, I am Tuneless.I am not denying that it was a dumb move to bring it to the bar, or to let it out of my sight. Normally I don’t bring it anywhere where I will leave it unattended, I am extremely protective of my belongings, but in this case I had no choice. There was no coat check because it was 1:30 am on a Monday night, the Metric System was playing and the group I was with constituted at least half of the bar which as largely an older crowd. You’re right I’ll be more careful next time and you’ll be happy to know I did learn my lesson, but it doesn’t deny me the right to be cheesed off about it. Not that it really matters, but to correct assumptions you made there was no cover and the only thing I drank was one shot purchased for me and a pint of beer. Had there been a coat check I would have had no problem forking over whatever they wanted to stash my coat.
Colin, I feel bad now. Figured you were some airhead. I apologize… I mean it.Man, these online bitches aren’t nearly as heartless as they are in the paper.I’ve had things stolen ranging from a bicycle to an mp3 player (I think the music on it was worth more than the actual player) and I’ve had my motorbike kicked over for fun. I’m now a bitter old cynic but I know how to avoid all that. I’m sorry for your loss though. 100% sarcasm free, I hope this helps you learn, as I think I did. Unfortunately it’s one of the ways we are forced to grow up. I keep all valuables on my person now if I’m around people I don’t know.I hope you managed to salvage your birthday.
Jim,Don’t feel bad, I likely would have interpreted my original bitch in a similar way. This is really the first time I’ve ever had something taken from me, and honestly the first time I’ve ever felt that “vulnerable” feeling people talk about after being robbed. It was the first time I was ever kind of nervous about walking out of my house.I appreciate the sympathy as well and it definitely helped me learn. 20 years of being cautious paid off, I let my guard down for a second and I get ripped off. Goes to show the number of sharks there are out there who will go after anyone at anytime. The birthday was fun otherwise, saw a lot friends I hadn’t in a while, thanks. Also, to anyone else who worries now as I do:www.ihoundsoftware.com, free as of now, only works on windows (boo) but has the potential to be a good way to reclaim lost usb belongings. Sends you the information of the computer the device is plugged into if the address it is plugged into deviates from yours (gives you actual street address and locale on google maps). Worth looking at.
these crooks should be thrown in jail for a minimum of 2 years for stealing. Doesn’t it suck having your ipod stolen its so personal. I had two stolen one from QEH and one from Citadel High. I hate thieves!!
