Since when is a banana art? Since when does a full time art instructor deserve a grant to go out and shop for color-complementary bananas??? Ship this exhibit to the Banana Republic with the rest of the over-priced garbage!

The grinch ain’t got nothing on you!

  1. ok now I NEED to know what this exhibit is!op what do you have against potassium-rich goodness?

  2. Artists who make that sort of art LOVE when people bitch that it isn’t art. It makes them feel subversive!

  3. PS I’m wondering who gets to decide what’s art and what’s not. tastes and the definition of art change with time and individuals- that’s what makes it different than a science. It’s a subjective expression of something intangible. So while YOU OP might not agree that bannana’s are art..someone else might.

  4. Bananas have been art forever… still-lifes anyone? Iconically though, think about the 1966 Warhol album cover for the Velvet Underground. More recently (1999), a conceptual artist called Fishbone had a sculptural mountain of bananas outside of a bank in Ecuador. The beauty of that was that it became an event and the artist encouraged the onlookers to take some home with them. Art feeding the mouths AND minds…
