C’mon Metro Transit – just add one more stop to the #90 for all those who have medical appointments and jobs in the strip mall at the end. Just one more stop, please. Not much to ask. —Gimpy Impatient Patient

  1. 300 feet? Kevin Dyson was only three feet away from sending Super Bowl 36 into overtime before he was tackled. Put things in perspective for Christ sakes!

  2. Maybe MT can also reroute the bus to have a stop in the middle of your living room, so you won’t have to get wet in the rain, OB. FFS. even if you owned a car you would be hard pressed to get within 300 feet of most businesses doors.

  3. Did you write or call them to extend it? If not, do so. Remember the old saying, “If you like us tell others, if you have a problem, tell us so we can fix it if we can”.

  4. Bus stops are ridiculously close in Halifax. When I was in Ottawa and Quebec, there were probably half as many stops.

Less fat people around those parts too. Hmm… interesting.

Also: 300 feet is like 1/17th of a mile! FFS.

  5. Main issue is that if MT did go to the last roundabout and swung around that one to do their return they could drop and pick up people near where many people are heading for appointments etc.

Currently the last stop is in an area where people going to that strip mall (or whatever those jumble of stores around huge parking lots are called these days) have to walk through the roundabout twice to cross two major streets. Then you are faced with a huge expanse of ‘nothingness’ – currently part lawn then a huge area of large rocks to cross to get near the Lawtons area.

If you walk along the sidewalk to the parking lot entrance you add a great deal of walking time to the route just to get into a huge parking lot then almost have to backtrack the distance to get to the area where offices tend to be located. Over time this may get better when they build more places where the huge rocks are now located. These dumps are made for cars, and those driving them. Two banks out there both with ‘drive thrus’ -yeah that should make for good exercise for the drivers. And of course drivers can generally drive through the parking lot fairly easily to get close to the door of the businesses.

Unlike bus users blowing around in the wind, rain, snow etc. . Meanwhile there is plenty of space along that stretch of Larry Uteck where a bus could stop on the side where the stores are. Or it could swing in along Peakview itself and do the return through there.

As for further distances between bus stops in Ottawa, any areas where I have used OC Transpo (granted mostly in town and not the burbs) seems to be similar to here. At least along Slater, Albert, Bank, Laurier etc. Also, in Ottawa transit is usually much more user friendly to people when it comes to getting closer to shopping areas.

  6. Again, call MT and ask for the change. They won’t change anything unless someone notifies them. They won’t change a route by reading LTWWB.

  7. I know what stop you are referring to and it is more than 300 feet. Also the developer doesn’t want the bus to go through their property (just like what happened at Bayers Lake) The bus will be going down the street by Sobey’s once it is connected with the subdivision near Hemlock Ravine.

  8. Maybe more stops have been added in ottawa in the past few years since I’ve lived there, but I lived in the glebe one stop over from bank and i worked on the farm on carlington and i went everywhere on the bus and i did a whole lot more walking than here. Had the weight loss to show for it.

  9. If you have medical conditions that prevent you from walking certain distances, request that the driver drop you off a a certain spot. I know in Mass./US they do it.

  10. cityboy So what if he is fat? cityboy you must be a c#cksucking Metro Transit bus driver.
