WHY is the # 80 bus always late? I have never once been down at a bus stop and had it show up on time. It is always at least 5 minutes late… One time it didn’t come at all! I had to wait for the next 80.

I was commenting on this one day and a woman at the bus stop felt that she could jump into my conversation and tell me that it wasn’t the busses fault and that I was wrong.

While I didn’t say anything to her (though I was fuming), I realize that from time to time, HRM may not have the best traffic situations, but every other bus generally is able to make it on time!!!!! Why does the 80 get to be late? It is a route that a lot of people rely on. I have been late for work countless times because this route was late.

  1. Ahhhhh i hate the 80 for that reason!it is never on time if it is the bus is PACKEDahh stupid sackville/halifax bus

  2. Speaking from experience, it’s just not the 80 that is habitually late. Many, many buses simply are required to cover too much ground. As a result when there are traffic issues the bus becomes unreliable. It would be nice to have more buses covering shorter distances.

  3. You know what would be cool? If the next time they spend millions of dollars widening the road between bedford and halifax they put in a dedicated bus lane that only busses can go in. I saw ’em in other ‘big cities’ and they seemed to make sense. I had the misfortune of living in sackville for awhile. Getting up at 6 to be at work for 9 in Halifax sucks.

  4. My general rule for the buses is; take the bus number and that is how minutes + or – it could take to show up for it’s scheduled time.Bus 80, could be up to 80 minutes late, I’ve seen it happen or blinded and it passed by me. This almost always works for bus 7.

  5. my favorite late bus story:Has anyone ever taken the 14 Leblin bus in Spryfield? One day I was on dennith rd, right by the Superstore, waiting for the bus at 12:25 noon time with my coworker. The bus was due at 12.35. (I was heading to Mumford, so the #14 was coming from the end of Leblin park.) I waited until 1:00. No bus came. My coworker and I had been waiting for 25 mins, watching for the bus. Finally at about 1:10, the bus comes, and when we step on, my friend asks, “Why are you so late?” The bus driver says.. “EVER HEARD OF TRAFFIC??” My friend replied with, “NOT DOWN LEBLIN PARK!!!” I swear, we didn’t see a bus go down Leblin park while we were waiting.
