Am I the only one that thinks putting on a celebration of having the same shit-tastic helicopters for 50 years is a waste of money and an embarrassment? I don’t want to celebrate the fact that these shit buckets are still flying around. —Voice of Treason

Sort of impressive they’re still in the air though. Think of it as a celebration of what has to be the world’s best aircraft mechanics.
u r dumb crayons!!!!!!
I’m with crayons on this one. We also like to overload the Seakings with a couple tons of equipment they weren’t designed to carry. Bottom line though, bring on the replacements.
What crayons said. Must be a bunch of McGyvers at Shearwater.
Yes wog. Now go back to spending my hard-earned tax dollars. God knows I don’t need them…
The achievement is to the credit of the maintenance crews and the bavery of the men who fly them. I’d love to see those “hard-hitting sleuths” of our precious fifth estate apply the same proctological investigative techniques to discover how much has been spent in penalties and maintenance costs since Jean Poutine famously declared “Dat H’it. No more ‘elicopter” as they are using to cover every glitch and delay in the F-35 program. See how much the Great Communicator from Chawinigan” actually saved the Canadian public? And the long awaited replacement – a civilian design with a few military bells and whistles bolted on. Lets see how well that works for the men and women of our Air Force.
Fuck the politicians. Fuck them all.
I went up a few years ago for family fly day. 50 years old or not, I’d rather go for a ride in a Sea King than most people’s cars, Sea Kings are ridiculously well maintained. It’s not a celebration of using inadequate out-of-date tech, it’s a celebration of the skill and professionalism of our Sea King flight and maintenance crews to have done good work with their limited resources. I think that’s worth celebrating!
I had flown on one as well, no complaints other then the lack of AC. I’ve also seen them fly virtually non-stop on numerous disaster relief efforts.
AC in a Sea KIng, Nukka? Hook yourself up to a bungee cord and open the door>: )
Oh man Ivan the best in the Sea King is riding with the side door open and being tethered in with the monkey tail, sitting with your legs dangling out! You wanna talk about AC!
Sounds awesome JG >: ).
You clearly don’t know anything about aircraft. The fact that they’re still in the air proves that they are INCREDIBLY good aircraft backed by INCREDIBLY good maintenance techs. These aircraft are well past their life cycle and still going strong. Any mechanical item will have problems when they are 50 years old. Shut the hell up about things you know NOTHING about.
