It’s 40 Days for Life which means Knights of Columbus block South Park St. near the entrance to the Vic General with inaccurate images, prayer circles, and an abundance of dirty looks.

Done with the whining; now the love:
Praise be to the individuals or group who decorated that same stretch of South Park St. with “365 days of choice”; “40 days of bullshit”; “it’s your body and your choice”; and my favorite: “feminists rule this town”. You made my Thursday, and maneuvering around the sidewalk-blocking protesters for the next 39 days won’t feel like such a hassle knowing they’ll be forced to look at, maybe even consider, another, for me more palatable point of view. Street art with a message should not be a crime, and you rock! —Street Art Nspire

  1. So what you are saying is that some people’s right to freedom of expression is more important than others. Do the world a great big favor and don’t breed.

  2. …and if feminists truly do “rule this town” then I’d say they’ve got a helluva lot to answer for. Don’t you think? Or, don’t you bother?
Now get back to baking me some chocolate chip cookies and try not to fuck those up like you did the sewage plant.

  3. While I agree with the general sentiment, I question its effectiveness. I think a counter-protest would be a much better method.

  4. I’d go for a cage match to the death. Winner determines public policy for the next 4 years.
Fuck is this goddamned day not over yet?

  5. s/counter-protest/couple hidden landmines/

    there we go.
I do not dislike them so much for their message….
it was more their raging bible-thumpedness that disturbs me.

  6. Yeah, I’m home with a Leffe in my hand and the world is a bit more pleasing to the eye, the ear and the soul.

  7. I just plow through the crowd like I’m on my way to something more important! lol. Even though I’m probably just getting the bus so that I can be home drinking a cold one while the sun is still up. Outta my way! 😉

  8. “So what you are saying is that some people’s right to freedom of expression is more important than others.” Nope, not what she said at all. To paraphrase “These dicks may have the right to protest but thank god we also have the right to protest the protest”

And btw, someone got rid of most of them. I’ll have to pick me up some spraypaint.

  9. I live right next door to this circus. I pass them every morning on my way to work and every morning i’m either looking at my text messages or, more recently, looking at the ground and reading the messages. Other than reading the sidewalk, i don’t give them any sort of reaction whatsoever.

Now listen up all of you. These octogenarians are the biggest voting demographic. THIS is why it’s important to ALWAYS, ALWAYS vote even though all the candidates are dickweeds. Otherwise people like this will be choosing our elected leaders. Don’t treat them like scum. They have a right to say what they want and have any opinions they feel they should. Treat them like teachers. Because there is a lesson in all their nonsense.

  10. Oh and one final thing. Ask them if they eat meat. If they say yes, ask them if they buy it from the grocery store. If they say yes, blanket their field of vision with the horrifying images of how factory farm animals are treated and then say “You’re going to hell.” and walk away.

  11. I tell a christer the same thing I’d tell a feminazi. “Get the fuck outta my way and don’t even think of boring me with your horseshit.”
And to amplify on her last sentence, with a little more accuracy and for me, a more palatable point of view. “Street art with a message is STILL FUCKING VANDALISM”

  12. It’s been brought o my attention that there is a slim chance that I may be known to the person who posted this love, in which case I would like to amend my first comment.
Breed, breed, grow big with child. May your union be blessed with issue and may your first child be a masculine child.
Also are you sure you read the graffiti correctly. It may have said “Yemenis rule this town”, which, lets be honest now, is far more likely.

  13. “Street art with a message is STILL FUCKING VANDALISM”

True. But halifax is a city of graffiti. At least some of it has a message.

  14. Halifax is also a city of potholes, crap bus service, swarmers, panhandlers, irresponsible drivers, irresponsible cyclists ,people who don’t tip, people who think they are owed tips, incompetent municipal politicians, drunken college students, former drunken college students turned property owners who hate drunken college students…and so on, ad infinitum.
All of this has a message – that douchebags are pretty flipping far from being an endangered species.
So unless you own the property or have the owner’s express permission, stuff the spray nozzle up your nose and let her rip.
