I get it. Somewhere at some point in time, you won the argument about PD days. We are stuck with them even though I object to seeing you get a paid holiday to color and decorate the walls in your classroom.
But really? 2 PD days in one week? Do you not realize how disruptive that is to parents trying to earn an income? —missing 2 days pay

Suck it up. Ensure that your kids get a better education than you did so they will take care of you when you’re old.
shrug this is part of having kids. if you don’t like what it entails you should not have had them

Just listen to these union pigs yammering about the government “bullying” them into signing a contract that is in the public’s interest. As far as I’m concerned, until they raise their overall rating from a C to at least a B+, they shouldn’t be getting any raises or perks. If the status quo is good for us and our children, then the status quo is good for them.
Every teacher I know is voting no. Not to get a raise, but to get the basic resources they need to teach our kids.
No matter what they say, it is ALWAYS about the money.
Why did you have kids, if you can’t even afford them. I hate people who do this shit. Jesus, thank god I’m gay too.
I’m pretty sure one those PD days was for parent teacher interviews. Guess you didn’t go, OB?
PD days are bullshit.
Professional Development my ass.
With all the impending snow days a-coming, I doubt they were warranted.
PD days are mandated. For the last one, teachers were told where to go and what to do. ( I believe it had something to do with improving academic performance and meeting the needs of other peoples’ children!) In short, PD is there to educate our teachers and help them to further develop their skills and contribute to their teaching practice–for the children. If schools were open 24-7 they’d still have kids filling up classrooms because so many people think of scholastic institutions as daycare. This has led to decreasing numbers in public schools as many turn to homeschooling and private schools to educate their kids because ” the babysitting” taking place in classrooms is impacting upon the quality of education that many can deliver and receive. So many people bitch about teachers sitting on their asses; maybe those bitchers and gripers ought to take a few days or a week to volunteer in schools and see what the teachers really do in the run of a day…take notice of when they clock in, when they clock out, their workload, planning, preparing, marking, documenting, teaching, extra-help, meetings, extra-curricular activities for other peoples’ kids, answering parent emails and children’s’ homework questions via email into the evening and weekends, etc.
The rating mentioned above is based on student performance. Do you suppose that family, community and parents have any role to play in the education of children? Teacher slamming is an easy out–without the teacher slamming “some” parents might have to take a good, hard look and see the connection between child rearing practices and academic performance. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Sadly, so many who hold fast and strong to their opinions are windbags who can’t be bothered to learn facts before forming baseless opinions. As for childcare, the school calendars are printed well before the beginning of the school year –plan in advance.
