We are having a low-key cottage wedding where family and friends will be performing (kitchen partyish) so we don’t want to do the DJ/Band thing. I’m not big on the idea of using random iPods and love the old-time feel of the jukebox. Can’t seem to find any for rental—help?! Thank you. —MissKitty

  1. Hi Miss Kitty,
Although I am a professional wedding DJ, I appreciate the fact that you are looking for something non-conventional and have a definite vision in mind.

I think you’re right – there are few (if any) Jukeboxes available in Halifax. I have run across a few ipod jukeboxes that marry the nostalgic image with new technology music – i.e an “old looking” machine, where you can dock an ipod or buy music directly from itunes onto the unit.

Retailers (such as Sharper Image) also sell these types of machines:

There are a couple of concerns I would address before diving into this deeper:

    1. Will it be worth it? For the price & time investigating, stomaching a DJ or ipod might prove to be less hassle.

    2. If you find something worth while, will it be capable of producing enough volume should the kitchen party get into full swing?

Either way – good luck & congratulations on the upcoming wedding. 🙂
