It feels like just yesterday we were pulling on the elastic waistbands in anticipation of Halifax’s first Burger Week. Now it’s back for a second serving, this time bringing with it fine offerings from 50 restaurants. We’re talkin’ $5 burgs, special Feed Nova Scotia charity burgs, brisket, pulled pork, haddock, tofu, grass-fed beef, fried chicken, salmon, lamb—the whole gang’s getting its buns in gear. Click here are all the juicy details, with a pickle on top.

  1. Way to shoot Burger Week in the foot with that gag inducing picture of bare feet. I have no interest in eating a burger now.

  2. No fucking shit, this has got to be “Worst Cover Ever” for The Coast(even without it being based on Burger Week, which only adds to the fail). As soon as I saw it the reaction was WTF why did they do this? Definitely affected my decision to opt out of Burger Wank. What were you people thinking?

  3. Oh you guys! Who was asleep at the switch for this one? That’s a really nasty-ass cover. Hairy butt-ugly feet with a bad, bad, bad toenail clip job. Food waste and garbage on the floor? Really. I ask you: does this make you want to go out and scarf some burgers? I thought not. Your photographer Riley Smith also shot the Garbage Wars cover back in November and that was a really great cover. But he should have kept the garbage off this cover and used nicer feet. And forgone the duct tape – what does that have to do with anything? And don’t get me started about whether or not a scale should be part of a cover dealing with food. Whoever signed off on this: classic fail.

  4. The shitty part is that places like Gus’s (amongst others) have The Coast on display on racks, or scattered about, in full view of the diners. If it were me I’d probably throw them out to prevent my customers from wretching or subconsciously associating my product with this shitty image.

To be fair, its been a long time since The Coast had such a colossal fail.

  5. Bobidy Boopidy at Island Greek was fantastic: beef, sausage, onion, red peppers, provolone. $10 with fries.

  6. Diner Burger Mk.2 at Stillwell Bar was small with a soft moist top bun and a stale hard bottom bun. Weird steaming maybe, or microwaving? $5

  7. The Jughead Burger at Ace @ Bearly’s was good and big and hot. The dijon part of the dijonnaise was a bit overpowering. $5

  8. I so enjoyed getting to a few places I don’t ever go to to sample a few burgers: Thank you to the Coast for Burger Week! I also had a very stale (could hardly bite through it) bottom bun at Stillwell and a very excellent first burger from Ace at Bearly’s.

  9. I had the luxury to go to Ace at Gus’s twice while there a couple of weeks ago (I work at sea, cook ) and really enjoyed the deluxe and as well the Lamb burgers. I really like the softness of the bun, not fighting to get my hands around a bun that often at many places is far too big for the patty, too crusty(dried out?). Not fussy over the sumac mayo(?) on the lamb burger but still for price, quality and ambience a fair deal. I can see the quasi hip/yupster scene being a bit much here at times but still enjoyed my burgers….one other note, the minced fishburger seemed a lower quality stab at a fish burger….a messy fishwich is the way to go(trade scecret!!!lol)
