Black Moor Noise

Hear part of the Background Noise chat with Mark Little above. If you’re like me, you just don’t know where you’ll be getting your radio jollies now that Andrew Krystal has left Maritime Morning, am I right? Cough. Well, for those who like their radio humour loud and crude, Background Noise might be the thing for you. It’s an amusingly crass local comedy talk show hosted by four kooks (Devin Deuville, Derrek Ord, Luke James and Jon Sangster) and recently enjoyed its one-year anniversary. Each episode is a mix: there are interviews, cheeky takes on local news, radio bits,

memory lane Buck, up It’s never easy looking back at the person you used to be. For musicians, old songs can serve as diary entries, resulting in wistfulness, rediscovery or total embarrassment. When Buck 65—AKA Rich Terfry—took a look back at two decades of recordings in preparation for the release of 20 Odd Years, a […]

A Very Noyes Offer

As I write this, I am sick as hell and listening to the song “Scratches” from Dog Day’s forthcoming 7” of the same title. It’s the shiny type of song that makes you feel like you might be sticking your head out of a car window somewhere, and it’s almost June, and the light from […]

A/V Goes Hard in the Paint

The event features “crunk, dirty South, dubstep (wompwompwompwompwomp) and Gucci Mane.” And maybe some Lil’ B too, we suspect? Gus’ Pub, 10pm. $3, cheap dranks!

Dan Mangan is Coming

yes, i’ll have what he’s having. Vancouver singer-songwriter, Polaris Prize-short-lister and general all-around babe-meister Dan Mangan will be bringing his charms to the Seahorse on April 22, much to the delight of many in the Coast offices and, I suspect, many others in this city. His last show in ’09 sold out! Don’t sleep on […]
