On the simulatenously released OC Mix 2, you can find Nada Surf covering lame ’80s tune “If You Leave,” most famous for underscoring Molly Ringwald’s angst in Pretty in Pink. A similar tactic is employed on this collection—a clever, ultimately half-baked idea—by Jimmy Eat World, who present a tinny take on Wham’s “Last Christmas.” Appearances by Ron Sexsmith, The Long Winters and Low don’t make up for the album’s low total of nine songs. Kind of a rip-off. Absolutely a cash grab.
