Proving once again that real life is more bizarre than fiction, writer Mark Bolton is reading from his book, Poo: A Memoir, Thursday, May 29 at The Wired Monk (5147 Morris, 7:30pm, $5 suggested donation to the new Citadel High theatre). According to Bolton, when he was 11 years old, growing up in Australia with six siblings, his father created Poo World, a theme park with rides and attractions based around, you guessed it, poo. “I would describe the book as a comedic memoir. Kind of like David Sedaris, if you’ve ever read any of his stuff. It’s really creative non-fiction,” says Bolton. “Most of the stories are true, but I may have tweaked them a little.” The book chronicles “some of my funnier memories growing up. I do, however, still get a bit embarrassed talking about Poo World, even though it was more than 10 years ago.”Along with Bolton, The Moonshine Ramblers, who Bolton refers to as “Halifax Hanson,” will perform and designer Dylan Goddard will launch his new fashion label, Interrobang. You can’t make this shit up.
